I have been a fan of R.A.Salvatore's work since the Crystal Shard hooked me and sent me down this path. Gauntlgrym is another epic beginning. If your new to the Forgotten Realms or an old adventurer like myself, your going to love this book!
True to his style, the action is awesome! and you don't want to put the book down.
The narration was well done and enjoyable to listen to. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
If you are already a fan of R.A. Salvatore's work, you will really enjoy these stories. For those of us who have been following these character's for the past 25 years, it is really cool to get to listen to some of the 'behind the scenes' stories of the other novels we have read. How Bruenor's axe got it's first notch...Wulfgar's last days...the origin of Gwen ... and of course Jarlaxle and Entreri just rock.
If this is your first foray into the Forgotten Realms, I suggest that you put this collection in your library while it is free and download a couple of the Salvatore's other novels and start with those, you will appreciate these stories more if you already know who the characters are.
With a stellar cast of narrators, greats like Wil Wheaton, Felicia Day and David Duchovny do a fantastic job.
Really, the only downside to this collection is there's no Athrogate story.
This book is full of great tips for anyone. You don’t have to be in sales to benefit from listening to this book. But if you are in sales, you should give it a listen, it will help you become better at what you do. Like most books, this one is full of common sense tips, things you just don’t think of everyday. These bits of awesomeness are presented as rules, so you can break it down and just implement one thing at a time.
If you are just starting your career in sales, this book will offer you a boost and the motivation we often need. If you are experienced in sales, listening to this book every once in a while, will refresh your perspective, get you out of a rut and propel you forward.
This book is a quick listen with straight forward fresh ideas. Take notes, take action and make it Rain!
This book wrapped up the series nicely. Although there is still the possibility of a fifth book, this book did not end with a cliff hanger. Duke Fontaine does a fantastic job narrating the book and I look forward to listening to other titles by him.
If you enjoyed the first three books, you will definitely enjoy this one.
The book started off well and had a great finish. But them middle was primarily sex and feelings, a dystopian romance. I understand that the author wanted to portray a future dystopian society where women were objects to be claimed and how wrong that would be. That part was made really clear.
This would have been a much better book if it concentrated more on the story then on the long drawn out and descriptive sexual parts.
This was a tough one to get through because of the narration. The reviews from other people who had read the print edition were good enough so I thought I would give it a listen. The story was alright but the narration was by far the worst I have ever listened to. It amazes me that there doesn't seem to have been any quality control when approving this narration.
Its TEOTWAWKI and one couples experiences as everything falls apart. Some of it is a little far fetched and the couples banter gets pretty bad but the overall story is alright. There are also quite a few tangents that never seem to be followed up which would have made the story more interesting.
If you enjoy the SHTF genre and have read all of the others, then maybe give this one a shot, but not until the narration is re-done!
This is by far the worst Zombie book I have listened to. I just don't get what everyone else sees in this book. After the first couple of hours it was just boring to listen to the basically repetitive stories. The book was hardly entertaining. It's only saving grace was a stellar cast of narrators. I don't think anyone could complain about the narration, but for me, the end could not come soon enough.
This is definitely my favorite Zombie Apocalypse series, and this, the fourth book does not disappoint. Ending with a fantastic twist I am very much looking forward to book 5.
I have been reading Salvatore's books since the early '90's when I picked up the Crystal Shard, and he has remained one of my all time favorite authors. Lots of action and lots of story building. He has made such an impact on Faerun over the years, campaigns would not have been the same without his influence.
This, book one of the Sundering, is the most exciting book since the Crystal Shard. This book sets the stage for the 'rebirth' of Faerun and the return of the Gods and magic. The Companions of the Hall are reunited and it was not cheesy at all.
I'm glad to hear Mr. Bevine is the narrator again. He does a fantastic job and I look forward to hearing more from him. I can't wait to see what adventures befall the Companions in the next book. As with all of Salvatore's books, this one is well worth the credit.
CAUTION: If you have not played D&D for a number of years, this novel may make you want to blow the dust off your books and call up your old adventuring party. Faerun is going to get really really interesting.
I found this book really slow and almost void of adventure. It was a good listen, but largely because I was always thinking, 'OK, now it is going to get interesting'. Being the first in a series, it is often tough for an author to lay down all of the ground work for the world, the history and the characters and then throw in a few things to make it interesting. I found this novel to be a good foundation to build on, but just didn't capture me enough to go onto the second book in the series. But, I do like a good Orc bashing, and there are no Orcs.
I really enjoyed this, the third book in the series. If you enjoyed the first two, you will enjoy this one. The author wraps up the trilogy nicely and writes one of the best 'death of a hero' scenes I have read.
