Karigan G’ladheon, running away from school, is traveling through a deep forest when a galloping horse pounds up to her, its rider impaled by two black-shafted arrows. With his dying breath, he tells her he is a Green Rider, one of the magical messengers of the King. Before he dies, he makes Karigan swear to deliver the message he’s carrying, and gives her his green coat, with the symbolic brooch of his office.

This was a great story. I loved that a young girl could become a strong woman. The character development was good and the story kept me on the edge of my seat.

Tana French's debut, In the Woods, hit the New York Times best-seller list and drew rave reviews from the Times (London) and Booklist. Picking up six months later, this riveting sequel finds Detective Cassie Maddox still scarred by her last case. When her boyfriend calls her to a chilling murder scene, Cassie is forced to face her inner demons. A young woman has been found stabbed to death outside Dublin, and the victim looks just like Cassie.

I really liked this story. It was a bit improbable, but then I read all sorts of improbable and impossible stories, so it was pretty much right up my alley. I really liked the narrator. She didn't try to make everyone's voice different; she narrated it - told the story as one would do in one's head if they were reading it. I really, really appreciate this. So the performance was first-rate, plus she has such a wonderful lilt! The story was quite intriguing and kept me guessing until the end. A good mystery.

Although this book was in one sense very intriguing, I found I wanted to finally get some answers and get to the end of it so I could start something new. The basic story was good; the narrator was good; but it just took way too long to start answering questions and to come to a conclusion - for me. Others may find it far more interesting, so I don't mean this as a negative review. It just wasn't for me.

Although I enjoyed the first in this series, this one left me a bit exhausted. The story is well-written enough, so I don't want to discourage folks from reading it. It just isn't for me. It is just too much; it goes on and on and on and I was left tired and ready for it all to end. Just not my cup of tea. The performance is fine and the basic story is fine and the character development is fine. I just get tired of the constant scary scene after scary scene...just too much for my taste.

Jodi Picoult delivers the riveting tale of one small town's entanglement with high-school violence.

New York Superior Court Judge Alex Cormier is assigned to preside over the case of the alleged Sterling High School shooter. Lawyer Jordan McAffee represents Peter, the boy who, on the day of the shooting, was found in the corner of the gymnasium holding a gun to his head with a shaky hand. Detective Patrick DuCharme has one star witness, but her story keeps changing. And then there's the biggest problem of all: the star witness happens to be Judge Cormier's daughter.

This was a good story and well-performed, however, it is not the type of book I prefer to read. Even though there is a mystery here, it wasn't the 'thriller' type of story I prefer reading. But if you like novels, it is a good story.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. I especially like Davina Porter, in fact, she is why I bought this in the first place. But the mystery of the book was really great as well and, although, suspecting 'whodunnit' several times, I was still surprised how it all came together in the end.

The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

I had only read Dracula a few years ago and found it dreadfully depressing. A friend listened to it and said she enjoyed the audiobook, so I decided to try it. I am glad I did! It had a whole different feeling to it with a cast narrating. It is definitely worth listening to even if you are not a fan of the genre.

Turning 27 may be terrifying for some, but for Alex, a struggling artist living in the midwestern United States, it is cataclysmic. Inheriting a huge expanse of land should have made him a rich and happy man; but something about this birthday, his name, and the beautiful woman whose life he just saved, has suddenly made him - and everyone he loves - into a target.

I bought this book thinking it was more of a mystery than a novel, but that wasn't the case. If I had been reading it, I would have stopped early on because it just isn't the kind of story I care for. However, the person who is the voice of Jack was so amazing that I kept going. It turns out it was actually a good story - still not my cup of tea - and I found myself sitting in the garage listening just a little longer to see what came next. I wonder if I would have liked it more had the escape and capture been more drawn out. But it is definitely worth listening to just to hear Jack.
