I have read this book several times and listened to a BBC theatre performance but until now have not had such a great experience as this. The narrator brought to life all of the poetry and song contained in this epic story in such a way that I can't wait to download the rest of the Baggins story. Bilbo is such a stodgy character in the beginning but he grows and matures as the adventure continues. I truly enjoyed this book and was anxious toreview today
This classic novelist does not disappoint! I have seen the many movies but this is the first time that I have "read" the book and am looking forward to listening to the many sequels. John Lee as narrator is, as always, right on in his interpretation of the characters. A satisfying purchase. thanks audible for bring me the Classics this way
I fully intend this book to become one of my "re-reads". it is an unforgettable story
It had all of the classic ideas, love thwarted, revenge, evil and good . I had never read this before but am so glad I did!!!! this is a must have in any library
He truly made the characters come to life The superciliousness of the up jumped aristocracy is so evident that you realized who were the bad guys
I tried to but with it being in six volumes I had to sleep sometime
The Count of Monte Cristo is a worthwhile purchase. Don't be afraid that the od world language wil be misunderstood, quite the contrary it is necessary to the story to be heard in this context
this book is one of the best that I have listened to.
I really enjoyed the way he made the characters come alive. Everyone had hisor her own story to tell. I also felt the touched by his reaction to being welcomed into Kunte Kinte's home village. He gave us his family history with loveand devotion and I am sure that the ancestors were made proud.
I have never listened to his audio performances before. I have always liked him on screens big and small.
The story has already reached the television in an epic mini-series.
I enjoyed the first chapter and am looking forward to the rest of the story. I find themain character likeable if a bit stodgy in her beliefs. It will will be most interesting to watch her develope as the story goes along. I really found it difficult to choose beween the Fiery Cross by my Favorite author and this one.
I would listen to this again because I like to learn about the history of forensic science and the author seems to have done quite a bit of research. The writing makes the subject interesting.
