Most of this book is devoted to discribing the horrors of medical practice in the mid 1800's.
Interesting but grim.
I am very fond of books where a dogs take part in the narration. They make me look at my dog differently. I am sure my behavior exasperates him at times.
I have a theory that there is more than one person writing as Nora Roberts. her writing is just too diverse in style and quality. But be I crazy or not.... The Collector was written by the good Nora Roberts the one who wrote The Witness.
Yes this is a book where one chapter is the story told from the woman's point of view, the next from the man's. It really needed to have a female and a male narrator.
Glad I got it on sale
I do not think the narrator did a good job. Her soft voice was a bit monotonous.
Ha! Listening to romance novels is an activity I hope my friends don't find out I indulge in. I would be booted out of my book club.
I would give the author points for trying a different sort of plot line, using a married couple. Maybe it was the narration that did not work for me.
This story moves right along and there is a bit of humor. The characters are likable and none of the main female characters are whmpy. I could have listened to it straight though.
Sometimes when I buy really long books to get the most "bang" for my credit buck I am bored with the book by the end. This one is well paced and had enough side plots to keep me interested. Also the main characters are fun and likeable. I am not an Austin devotee but I thought the author did a believeable continuation
This is really fun light weight listening. I enjoyed the whole series. If you enjoy books with humor, kids, dogs and romance buy this book.
When I downloaded this book I thought it was Audible's gift to listeners and given the time of year it would have a holiday theme. It does deal with the meaning of love and family and is very interesting and well written, but it struck me as an odd choice for a holiday gift from Audible.
Yes, I too got drunk and ended up with a puppy being delivered to my doorstep. I enjoyed the parts about Joe the dog, and although she got of to a rough start with Joe, Vanna was a likeable character.
