"Interesting, but dry"
The facts were obviously researched. However, sometimes the story became a bit dry when the background facts were outlined.
The trials the men went through to survive their time at sea were fascinating. The details of life on Nantucket and the Quaker church were quite boring.
Definitely not. This is a historical book. Any further books based off of it would be pure fiction.
"Very entertaining"
Unpredictable,
The ending was completely unpredictable. I also liked that we could not see into Jacob's mind any more than his parents could.
The description of the car ride Jacob takes with his mother.
"Funny and touching."
The narrator had the singsong voice of an American Indian. The story took you from laughing to tears. It also helped me understand how poverty has its own culture, and sometimes the people in that culture can be the biggest barrier to breaking out of poverty.
The most memorable moment was how terribly the Indian crowd at a basketball game treated the protagonist of the story, all because he was trying to make more of his life.
There were countless scenes that were my favorite. How do I choose?
Yes. I bought it for a long drive, and I found that I hated to stop for gas!
Amazing! I would recommend it t anyone.
"Very disappointed"
No
The author needs to spend some time with teenagers and learn that they do not talk like idiots. John Smith was likeable and desirable because he was devoted to one woman for his life. How disappointed I was to find that this loyalty did not even last weeks. He is not likeable at all in this book.
Needed a better dialogue.
The story line is exciting with alot of action.
