"Once in a lifetime read/listen"
In listening to literally hundreds of offerings here on audible.com, I have been moved to write only three reviews so far. This book combines the rarest of rare delights, namely a five star book with a five star audio production. The book is a compilation of letters written between friends and acquaintances and is read with distinct voices by multiple actors, giving it life. The letters reveal a delightfully layered story and history of characters you grow to love. The book is heartrending, hilarious and vibrantly moving in all the most satisfying ways. You hope all your life long to find a book like this to enjoy.
"Keeps you guessing all the way through!"
I love Lisa Gardner's writing style. I couldn't imagine how she could come up with another top notch book complete with deep characters, a compelling plot, superb mystery and her signature emotional hooks. By turns, you find yourself pulling for a character and being quite certain they're the evil genius. Somehow Lisa Gardner makes you doubt your own conclusions, reverse your decisions, curse the good guys and root for the criminals. Lisa guides you through the twists and turns with more reliability than a GPS and at the end you know she's manipulated the heck out of you and you love her for it. "Love You More" was so tough to put down that I actually listened all day at work while pretending to get things done. Shhhh. Don't tell.
Go Lisa! GREAT book!
"Incredibly satisfying and surprising!"
Wow! The major complaint of a reviewer before me happened to be my personal favorite theme in the book. Don't let it put you off, you may love it! It was really funny, riveting and filled with tension. Wow! This was definitely my favorite of all the Troubleshooters books so far. It would help if you have read at least Flashpoint and perhaps Into the Storm before this book in order to best appreciate the truly elegant twists in the romantic story arcs. Brockmann gives us enough backstory to fill in the blanks, but nothing can really compare to understanding the characters the way you do if you get to know them over several books. Not to mention the fact that all the books in the series are great. Dark of Night is the only one of the Troubleshooters series that I have given a five star rating to, however and I believe only one of two that have a five star rating from me out of something like 200 audible titles listened to and rated. Masterful storytelling!
Just, WOW.
"Keeps you guessing"
If you like a mystery that keeps you guessing and guarantees surprises, read/listen to this book! Sandra Brown at her finest with another multi-layered plot including unpredictably complex characters. Although this story takes place over a period of just a few days, it delivers like an epic.
I found myself changing allegiances among characters over and over as bits and pieces of the puzzle were revealed. In this story, it's just as tough to identify the good guys as it is to peg the bad guys. You gotta love it!
"You won't be disappointed!"
What can I say about this spectacular piece of writing? It is one of the most satisfying reads I have had in a long time and I have read over 600 books in the past two years. It has a many layered plot riddled with well developed, complex yet believable characters. Back story is revealed in a tantalizing and veiled manner that has you guessing about nearly everyone's motives throughout. The author has an ingenious knack for keeping you wondering while drawing you inexorably into the story and the characters before you can even decide who you like and who you fear. I love the author's development of a main character who is disabled and sexy as all get out.
The narrator is terrific, too. Fantastic!
"Skip this book of the series!"
I've now read or listened to all three books in this series as well as all of the Author's other books. I still think this series has potential, but this particular book does very little to move the story forward. If it were made into a movie, it could be done very nicely in five scenes or fewer. Way too much unnecessary stuff in here. Don't bother. If you like this Author, read the Immortal Highlander (my favorite!) or one of the other highlander series books, also available on Audible. Also, the narrator (who I usually like) uses an annoyingly phony sounding southern accent.
