Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Would you try another book from Suzanne Collins and/or Carolyn McCormick?

I think I'm done with this series! By 3/r of the way through, I was cringing at Katniss' naivety, the drawn out, saccharine half-love scenes, and disappointed at the way characters just disappeared or died.

Has The Hunger Games turned you off from other books in this genre?

Oh yeah, no more pain for me. I read the wikipedia entries, just so I could see how the series progresses. It felt like too much was left on the editor's cutting-room floor.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Narrator was just ok - it was a bit nasally in my opinion, but that wasn't the worst part of the book. The book was.

Anasoma, jewel of the Mahruse Empire, has fallen. As Caldan and his companions flee the city, horrors from the time of the Shattering begin to close in. With Miranda's mind broken by forbidden sorcery, Caldan is forced to disobey the most sacrosanct laws of the Protectors if he is to have any chance of healing her. But when one of the emperor's warlocks arrives to take control of him, he begins to suspect his burgeoning powers may be more of a curse than a blessing.

Too many unfinished story lines. Not a fan of half-finished books. If they would have at least wrapped one major story line it would have been more satisfying.
