At Annie Laurance's Death on Demand bookstore on Broward's Rock Island, South Carolina, murder suddenly isn't confined to the well-stocked shelves. Author Elliot Morgan's abrupt demise during a weekly gathering of famous mystery writers is proof positive that a bloody sword is sometimes mightier than a brilliant pen. With Annie in the primary police suspect, the pretty young mystery maven and her wealthy paramour, Max Darling, embark on an investigation into a classic locked-room mystery with high stakes.

I agree with a previous reviewer; the vampire stuff was rather silly. The story, however, was as good as expected - vampires not withstanding.

I'd never heard of these books before, but figured I'd give them a try. Totally enjoyable! Fun story line, and the reader is excellent. I love the accents. This is a great series if you're looking for light listening with a bit of excitement. And I find the description of 1932 England fascinating.

Like another reviewer I thought there was WAY too much Shaker history in the story. I mean, the history was interesting, but if I wanted to read a detailed history of the Shakers, I'd get a history book. It seems to me that without the history the book would have been too short, so the author may have added it to fill pages. The basic back story was interesting, but WAY too detailed!

The streets of San Francisco would be lined with hardcovers if rare book expert Brooklyn Wainwright had her way. And her mentor wouldn't be lying in a pool of his own blood on the eve of a celebration for his latest book restoration. With his final breath he leaves Brooklyn a cryptic message, and gives her a priceless - and supposedly cursed - copy of Goethe's Faust for safekeeping.

I downloaded this book because I wanted a nice cozy mystery. I should have followed the reviews and not gotten the book. The premise could have been good, but I found it very slow and boring. The narrator's "British" accent started out sounding Scottish and then wavered back and forth. Between the distracting narration and the slow story, I probably won't even finish the book. It's not even keeping my interest enough for me to care whodunit.

I got this book for my husband to listen to in the car on long trips and started out wondering how long I'd be able to stand listening to it. Now I'm totally engrossed in the series, probably more than he is. Great story, with just enough human interest to keep it real without going overboard on either the relationship stuff or the techical jargon. Great book!

I love the Goldilocks Catering series. Although I'm used to Barbara Rosenblat's reading and totally enjoy the way she narrates, I love the way this book changes the sound so you know when someone's on the phone, on a microphone etc. This adds to the enjoyment of the story.
