I like Stacy and Cinnamon. This was a quick and easy listen. A great vacation read.
I liked this a lot. Since it is so short, there are places that it needs fleshing out a little bit- but the story itself is great. I liked the characters (a snarky heroine is my fav!)
The second one is just as much fun too.
My one complaint about this is that is isn't a full length novel. Its great. Miranda is fun, Colin is fun, their adventure is great.
This is the perfect series to read in between dark or gritty stuff. Allegra is fun and Casper is pretty hilarious, at least in the audio version.
It took me a while to get into this book. There wasn't a whole lot of world building for me to get used to all of the different ideas/creatures in the series. I may give the next book another try but I'm not in a big hurry.
This series has ruined me! Ruined me for all other series and book boyfriends. I bawled and bawled but in a good way. I am so mad that there aren't any other books for me to read. I've read all of the novellas and am seriously contemplating just relistening to the whole series all over again.
The first part of this story is BRILLIANT. Absolutely hilarious, great satire. The ending (well really as soon as the pirates .. yes pirates... show up) its starts to get a little bit too 'out there' for me.
I was told to read this book my plenty of people on GoodReads. I picked it up and started and stopped it THREE times before I finished it. Its definitely darker and grittier than the series I am used to reading. It was hard for me to get into the world and into the "Downspeak" but I'm so glad I stuck with it. I have thoroughly LOVED the rest of the series.
I actually got this book as a reread/first listen. I think Bahni Turpin's voices get much better as the series goes on and she gets more familiar with the characters.
Yes, But only the other ones in this series. She has a very pleasing voice and I like her characterizations- particularly Bump.
I definitely got a little misty during certain parts. The sappy parts.
I love that although Chess is a hot mess, she is legitimately trying to be a good person. I have enjoyed watching her grow.
I was expecting this to be okay. Typical YA love story blah blah blah. But I ended up really invested in Helen and Lucas and all of the cousins.
I adored the mythology elements to it.
I loved that there wasn't an 'insta-love' (there was an insta-loathe but it somehow made more sense.
Although there are some 'schooly' elements to the book, they aren't the main focus. And the school isn't the main atmosphere.
I am very curious that the others aren't on Audible- I went to purchase the next one and it isn't there..... BOO
I love Estep's story telling. She has the ability to tell a good story from a great perspective.
This is the beginning of a new YA mythology series. I love mythology- and and strangely attracted to series that take place at a boarding school. So I was bound to love this story. I think Gwen is a great MC, she's spunky and fun, but a little hard on herself (as are a lot of 16 year old girls)
My one issue is that I solved the mystery a little too quickly. It didn't really bother me though, because there is an overlying series mystery that I'm still guessing at.
