"tedious narration"
Story is not bad but I felt I had to suffer through the narrator's very slow and deliberate telling of the story.
"Can't get enough of this series!!"
Glad to have more adventures of Jamie and Claire. Davina Porter is a dream to listen to. As soon as I hear her voice I am whisked back to the 18th century and fall in love with Diana Gabaldon's stories all over again.
"Another amazing story!"
Another perfectly amazing story that sucks you in and keeps you riveted to the last word.
"Amazing!"
Lisa See has an incredible gift for making you feel what her characters feel. They become real. And Janet Song is a gifted narrator. This was my first audio book by Lisa See and I experienced more emotions than I can name while listening to this story. It has a very graphic description of foot binding which is not for the squeamish but well worth listening to. I never knew how much these women went through for social status and a better life. The relationship between these 2 girls/women is remarkable. Must listen!
"More about Jamie and Claire! WooHoo!"
Davina Porter is one of the most gifted narrators I have ever listened to. No matter how many characters she is portraying you have no difficulty in knowing which one is speaking. I love this series. What can say? Can't wait to get to the next book.
"Good listen"
I listen to books on my long drive to and from work. This story, if not riveting, kept my attention. Personally, I did not like the narrator as much as others. Always good to listen to samples first. This was a good mystery but not a big surprise.
"Good story, dated, but good!"
I read this book when it came out in the early 80's. If you were very young then or cannot remember that time at all you will find the computer reference's very dated. For those of us that lived it, well it's fun to remember. Once you get past that this is a good story. The narrator does a very good job maintaining his characters and bringing the story to life. I loved it.
"My favorite audiobook!"
I loved this story. It is humorous and haunting at the same time. The characters develop so well throughout the story and I love the 2 women narrators. It is almost as if the story is being acted out. I was carried away by this book. Just loved it.
"What a journey!"
Winter Journey is beautifully written and takes the reader along on the journey of discovery. Though some of the story seems slightly contrived it will play on every emotion you have. The narrator tells the story well and is very committed to the story. Loved it!
