Fiver could sense danger. Something terrible was going to happen to the warren; he felt sure of it. They had to leave immediately. So begins a long and perilous journey of survival for a small band of rabbits. As the rabbits skirt danger at every turn, we become acquainted with the band, its humorous characters, and its compelling culture, complete with its own folk history and mythos.

    B. Cable says: "Still one of the best!"
"Why hadn't I read this sooner?"

Here I am...a guy who read Stephen King and Crichton novels, and I find this book. I am reluctant, but give it a shot since I read these great reviews. Wow... what an excellent piece of art this book is! And the narration is SUPURB. This is now my favorite novel I have ever listened to. Awesome.

"A beast. Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright – a creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore. I am a monster. You think I’m talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It’s no deformity, no disease. And I’ll stay this way forever – ruined – unless I can break the spell...."

I didnt have great hopes for this writing, but I gave it a try and actually ended up enjoy it. Yes...predictable. But sometimes it's nice to fall into a comfort zone like this novel.

Jimmy Tock comes into the world on the very night his grandfather leaves it. As a violent storm rages outside the hospital, Rudy Tock spends long hours walking the corridors between the expectant fathers' waiting room and his dying father's bedside. It's a strange vigil made all the stranger when, at the very height of the storm's fury, Josef Tock suddenly sits up in bed and speaks coherently for the first and last time since his stroke.

Nicholas says: "Not my favorite Koontz, but still engaging..."
    "surprised"

I had never read a book from this author until now. I heard that this one was a bit on the quirky side....and I felt I needed to read something a bit light hearted. I was really enthralled by this book! It was fun, sad, and a joy to read. I'm going to read more of his books now!

Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live among you. But we are not you. We can do things you dream of doing. We have powers you dream of having. We are stronger and faster than anything you have ever seen. We are the superheroes you worship in movies and comic books—but we are real.

The speaker was very over-dramatic. And the book was very predictable and dry. This was said way to many times : "The (blank) was so (black) that (blank)." The premise of the book was good though, but it was hard to sit though... very unrealistic dialog and narration.
