"Fantastic adventure"
This was my first Scott Westerfeld book. I was a bit worried about getting into a kids book, even though all the reviews said it was a good adult book as well.
And, indeed - it's funny & intelligent, and although the characters are young they don't act like bratty little kids.
I loved the world that is invented with the beasties and cray walking machines. The adult characters are a little flat in comparison to Deryn and Alek, and sometimes seem to behave in crazy ways just to drive the plot, but those are are minor complaints. You will be drawn into the story and barely notice.
"Winning Reacher story"
Yes! I loved this plot. One of the best Reacher mysteries in a while.
It made me laugh in a few places. Loved the narration.
"Good listen"
Yes, I would recommend this. It's a highly original story with great characters.
This fits in with the other 2 books of the Clockwork Century trilogy. Love that there are 3 great books with strong women lead characters who can care for themselves & kick some butt.
The scenes in King Station were creepy but so well brought to life! I will never go through that station again without thinking of the big fight there.
"Outstanding finale!"
I loved their visit to Japan the best. Deryn and Aleks eat noodles at a roving noodle cart, and that scene has stuck in my mind!
Well, the ending is left open so that there could be a sequel. Please, Mr Westerfeld, we'd like more Deryn and Alek!
He's hilarious and does such a funny job with the German accents.
If you have listened to the earlier two, you are already downloading this one! If you haven't, go download Leviathan and you'll soon be downloading this one as well. ;)
"A nice follow up to Leviathan"
The incredible characters were the best part of Behemoth. All the folks in Instanbul who Deryn and Alek meet are pretty cool, and the rebellion which they ferment is well brought off.
It fits right into the rest of the trilogy. Since each ends on a bit of a cliff hanger, you will want to listen to each one!
i rather liked Volger - he's rascally & pretty cool as narrated here.
On to book 3!
