    C. Weidner says: "Interesting and enjoyable"
"This book really made me think."

I can't say the number of times I had to stop the audio because something was said that really struck home. I used to have a dream often as a child that was disturbing to me. It wasn't until after I "read" this book that I dug a little deeper and discovered how on the mark my recurring dream was about something I could not have known about as a 5 to 6 year old. It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

  • On Intelligence

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 24 mins)
    • By Jeff Hawkins, Sandra Blakeslee
    • Narrated By Jeff Hawkins, Stefan Rudnicki
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Jeff Hawkins, the man who created the PalmPilot, Treo smart phone, and other handheld devices, has reshaped our relationship to computers. Now he stands ready to revolutionize both neuroscience and computing in one stroke, with a new understanding of intelligence itself.

    James says: "Epiphany"
"Interesting, just a little dry in places"

The information presented was interesting and did make me look at what intelligence is in a different way. Overall this audiobook was written for the layperson, but I found the information dry in places. Having said that, I have to say that I don't regret having bought this audiobook. It is worth the time invested in listening to it.

  • A Dirty Job

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 49 mins)
    • By Christopher Moore
    • Narrated By Fisher Stevens
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

People start dropping dead around Charlie, giant ravens perch on his building, and it seems that everywhere he goes, a dark presence whispers to him from under the streets. Strange names start appearing on his nightstand notepad, and before he knows it, those people end up dead, too. Yup, it seems that Charlie Asher has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant but utterly necessary one: Death.

    colleen says: "I loved it!"
    "A pleasant surprise"

This was the first Christopher Moore book I had "read". It wasn't quite what I was expecting but I enjoyed it. The cast of characters kept this book interesting. I found myself laughing out loud at the characters humor. I rated this book a 4 out of 5 because if I had read the paper version of this book I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much. Fischer Stevens does an incredible job bringing the characters in this story to life. In my opinion, he is hands down the best narrator on the audiobook scene.

  • The Day After Tomorrow

    • ABRIDGED (6 hrs and 40 mins)
    • By Allan Folsom
    • Narrated By Edward Hermann

    january says: "Good quick listen"
"A new twist on an old theme"

This book won't disappoint you. It grabs you at the start and holds for the entire ride. The ending will come as a surprise (at least I wasn't expecting it). There were a few areas of the story I found unlikely, but they didn't take away from the story too much. The characters are believable and well developed. Overall, I enjoyed this audiobook.

  • I Am Legend

    • UNABRIDGED (5 hrs and 19 mins)
    • By Richard Matheson
    • Narrated By Robertson Dean
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In I Am Legend, a plague has decimated the world, and those unfortunate enough to survive are transformed into blood-thirsty creatures of the night. Robert Neville is the last living man on earth. Everyone else has become a vampire, and they are all hungry for Neville's blood. By day, he stalks the sleeping undead, by night, he barricades himself in his home and prays for the dawn.

    Amazon Customer says: "Superb!"
    "This is a gripping story!"

I was hooked from the first few minutes. The story was so engrossing that I could really feel Neville's emotions as he struggled with his situation. To some extent it reminded me of the cult classic "Dawn of the Dead", but with a different twist. And the fact that this was written in the 1950's speaks volumes that a well written story is timeless.
