  • The Wild Blue: The Men and Boys Who Flew the B-24s Over Germany

The very young men who, against terrible odds, flew B-24s over Germany in World War II, were an exemplary band of brothers. Their ranks included one exceptional young man named George McGovern. Best selling historian Stephen Ambrose puts you inside the B-24s alongside McGovern and his mates, as he recounts their extraordinary brand of heroism, skill, daring, and comradeship.

I was really in love with the writing style of this book. And being a gen xer, I learned so much about the difference between today's war time and an older generation's war time. I pulled stories from the book and shared them with some of my relatives at get togethers and it opened a can of worms about experiences they had in the military. This is a good book to help older and younger people bridge the gap and talk about things that scared them, the people they missed, the good times had and the feeling of experiencing things like this.

Truly an amazing storyteller. And an amazing set of stories.

To a degree both engrossing and alarming, the story of fast food is the story of postwar America. Fast Food Nation is a groundbreaking work of investigation and cultural history that may change the way America thinks about the way it eats.

I loved this book. I love knowing how everything works. I had no interest in this book's topic, but was swept away by the mystery, truth and journalistic style of this book. I am a technical person by nature and have found the foundations sometimes more interesting than the end-result of a system, application, industry or person.

This book was one that I could not wait to get plugged back into. I was horrified, inspired and awakened by the content of this book. I hope everyone interested in how things work finds this as interesting as I did.

I thought this book was a 3 because it was interesting, the information was good, but I didn't feel that like other instructional audio books, it did a good job of reviewing the major topics every few steps. Instructional guides like this require more repitition for retention purposes. I'll need to listen to this over and over to really get the right value out of this book. I wish it came with a downloadable reference guide or something that I could print and review off-line.

It was difficult to listen to as an audiobook because I was trying to remember which vitamin or supplement they were discussing as they were talking. And I tend to listen to books in the car or while I am doing something else. This book requires more attention than most. But I did get some new information and would reccomend it for anyone who has interest in learning the basics of supplements and vitamins.
