"all ages"
good book for listening. shared it with a teenager and an 89 year old. we all liked it.
"I had to buy the book"
I couldn't take it on audio. Too complex and challenging for dog walking. Better by the fire.
"Engaging"
about the middle. I prefer really long books and this is fairly short
the beetles. totally cool.
the boxer
the boxer. a sociopath with a penchant for directness. he cuts to the chase
an odd book for a Austin fan, but it was engaging
"Tons of military strategy"
Maybe
Miscast. Clarity. Misplaced emphasis. That's four.
I liked the feminist twist to a sci fy story. If you like excellent description of combat between battleships, you'll like this book. The star ships maneuver like sailboats at light speed in a vast three dimensional ocean. Cool, but not really my thing.
"Disappointing"
I wanted to like this but the plot was contrived, the characters unconvincing, and the historical setting muddled. I almost never leave a book unfinished but managed to do so on Juliet.
"liked the narrator"
Nice characterization. Descent mystery well read. I'll look for this reader again. This book is aimed at a female audience.
"sorry when it was over"
a lot of words but I like that. never boring. I will save to listen again.
"cultural history"
Great historical context. cites personal letters and journals not readily available to an English only reader. Allows individual personality to operate as a cultural signifier. I sound like a professor, which I am, but this is a good read if you like history and think art matters.
