    • By David Rosenfelt
    • Narrated By Grover Gardner
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Few can rival attorney Andy Carpenter's affection for golden retrievers, especially his own beloved Tara. After he astonishes a New Jersey courtroom by successfully appealing another golden's death sentence, Andy discovers that this gentle dog is a key witness to a murder that took place five years before. Andy pushes the boundaries of the law even further as he struggles to free an innocent man by convincing an incredulous jury to take canine testimony seriously. It will take all the tricks Andy's fertile mind can conceive to get to the bottom of a remarkable chain of impersonations and murder, and to save a dog's life - and his own - in the process.

  • Dear Leader: Poet, Spy, Escapee - A Look inside North Korea

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 43 mins)
    • By Jang Jin-sung
    • Narrated By Daniel York

As North Korea's State Poet Laureate, Jang Jin-sung led a charmed life. With food provisions (even as the country suffered through its great famine), a travel pass, access to strictly censored information, and audiences with Kim Jong-il himself, his life in Pyongyang seemed safe and secure. But this privileged existence was about to be shattered. When a strictly forbidden magazine he lent to a friend goes missing, Jang Jin-sung must flee for his life.

David says: "Stop browsing and get this Book"
"Prepare to see the layers of truth revealed"
What did you love best about Dear Leader?

The slow unfolding of the authors change of heart and willingness to ask himself the difficult questions. After all, he was priviledged, well fed and taken care of physically. To willingly work himself out of the labrinthe of lies and deceit was amazing to me.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I didn't have a favorite character. Jang and all those he worked with and those who helped him were fascinating to me. Looking forward to hearing more from the author.

What about Daniel York’s performance did you like?

I have not listened to any other performances by Daniel York before this. I can say only that he was remarkable in making the entire story come to life and believable.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A Manual on how to lie to the world and get away with it!

    Any additional comments?

It's hard after listening to this book to not go off on a political rant, but I think I'll do that elsewhere.
Well worth the listen. I agree with the reviewer who mentioned after hearing these truths it is very difficult to pay attention to our petty little problems.

  • One Good Dog

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 23 mins)
    • By Susan Wilson
    • Narrated By Fred Berman, Christina Delaine
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Adam March is a self-made “Master of the Universe.” He has it all: the beautiful wife, the high-powered job, the glittering circle of friends. But there is a price to be paid for all these trappings, and the pressure is mounting—until the day Adam makes a fatal mistake. His assistant leaves him a message with three words: your sister called.

Shelby says: "A cynic and a cynical dog - PERFECT!!"
    "Beautiful Story!"
What did you love best about One Good Dog?

There is nothing quite so engaging as a love story between dog and man.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Every character in the book was real to me so difficult to say which one I liked best.

Have you listened to any of Fred Berman and Christina Delaine ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Oh yes, it made me cry for sure, very emotional

    Any additional comments?

If you are an animal lover a must read and if you are not, still a must read!

  • Suspect

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 30 mins)
    • By Robert Crais
    • Narrated By MacLeod Andrews
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

LAPD cop Scott James is not doing so well, not since a shocking nighttime assault by unidentified men killed his partner, Stephanie, nearly killed him, and left him enraged, ashamed, and ready to explode. He is unfit for duty - until he meets his new partner. Maggie is not doing so well, either. The German shepherd survived three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan sniffing explosives before she lost her handler to an IED and sniper attack, and her PTSD is as bad as Scott’s. They are each other’s last chance.

    Jacqueline says: "Gripping Page Turner!!"
""If you like dogs". . ."

This was a great book. Well narrated, good story and so much heart impossible not to love!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

All about bravery, honor and love.

  • The Paradise Prophecy

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 58 mins)
    • By Robert Browne
    • Narrated By Scott Brick
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

A spectacular thriller inspired by John Milton's Paradise Lost in which the final chapter of the War in Heaven is about to play out on Earth, with the fate of humanity hanging in the balance. Agent Bernadette Callahan is a talented investigator at a government organization known only as Section, on the trail of a serial killer with nearly supernatural abilities. Sebastian "Batty" LaLaurie is a religious historian who knows far too much about the other side - and that hard-earned knowledge is exactly what Callahan needs.

Matthew says: "Now THIS one you will enjoy"

This is one of the most enjoyable thrillers I have listened to in a long time. The scope is breathtaking, the topic all encompassing.

Horror, tears, laughter and the sense of something real moved me throughout the story. It was difficult to grasp how the author did this. Otherwordly for sure.

Scott Brick was spectaculor in his narration, the characters he portrayed came alive under his masterful narration style.

Listen to this, you won't be disappointed. Warning: This should be listened too with both ears and mind without interruptions to feel the full flow and impact of the story.

  • Zero Day

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 11 mins)
    • By David Baldacci
    • Narrated By Ron McLarty, Orlagh Cassidy
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

From David Baldacci - the modern master of the thriller and number-one worldwide best-selling novelist - comes a new hero: a lone Army Special Agent taking on the toughest crimes facing the nation. John Puller is a combat veteran and the best military investigator in the U.S. Army's Criminal Investigative Division. His father was an Army fighting legend, and his brother is serving a life sentence for treason in a federal military prison. Puller has an indomitable spirit and an unstoppable drive to find the truth.

Steve says: "There will be more of Puller ...."
    "Very Entertaining"

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and especially enjoyed the narration with both female and male parts. It made the book come alive.

The man character had shades of "Jack Reacher" to me. I don't know if anyone else felt that, but I am looking forward to more of him in upcoming books.

  • Gideon's Sword

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 57 mins)
    • By Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child
    • Narrated By John Glover
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

At 12, Gideon Crew witnessed his father, a world-class mathematician, accused of treason and gunned down. At 24, summoned to his dying mother's bedside, Gideon learned the truth: His father was framed and deliberately slaughtered. With her last breath, she begged her son to avenge him. Now, with a new purpose in his life, Gideon crafts a one-time mission of vengeance, aimed at the perpetrator of his father's destruction. His plan is meticulous, spectacular, and successful. But from the shadows, someone is watching. A very powerful someone, who is impressed by Gideon's special skills.

James says: "How much disbelief are we expected to suspend?"

I was looking so forward to this book, I guess it was bound to be a disappointment.
The characters to me were so very shallow, nothing compared to the authors previous exciting books with the very unique qualities of Pendergast. I was hoping for a new compelling lead character, which may have been a bit better if the narration was with a different narrator. All in all very predictable I couldn't even get through the entire book it became so boring.

  • The End of Overeating: Taking Control of the Insatiable American Appetite

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 25 mins)
    • By David A. Kessler
    • Narrated By Blair Hardman
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The End of Overeatinguncovers the shocking facts about how we lost control over our eating habits - and how we can get it back. Dr. Kessler presents groundbreaking research, along with what is sure to be a controversial view inside the industry that continues to feed a nation of overeaters - from popular brand manufacturers to advertisers, chain restaurants, and fast-food franchises.

Deidre says: "The best 'NON-DIET" diet book out there..."
    "Intelligent and Compelling"

The first book of this type I have ever listened to, but on hearing the sample, it captured my attention.

I found it to be fascinating. The knowledge about food, the food industry and most importantly about the way your brain works in regards to food stimulus is amazing. You can hardly listen to this book and not gain an 'awareness' concerning what and how much you eat. I like to call it "Food Mindfulness". Knowledge is power, so if you are a little short on personal power over food listen to this book and get it back!

The food industry wants to make money and really doesn't give a damn about you, just how much you eat of their food and how often you keep coming back for more. They have few restrictions on their advertising. It is our responsibility to gain the knowledge in a free society, and the author has gone to great lengths to assist us.

The narration was excellent for this type of book. Scientific studies pointing to the real truth is always a pleasure.

I have enjoyed most of Baldacci's books, however the Camel Club series, while taking awhile to take to the theme, are my favorites.
