Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, to those who enjoy erotica. Why? I think this book has a good fictional story line as well as it being informative.

What other book might you compare Brie Learns the Art of Submission: Submissive Training Center to and why?

Many might say the Fifty Shades Trilogy because of the BDSM. Personally, I think it stands alone, other than the other Brie book that takes place right after graduation, a book I hope to hear on Audible very soon.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Actually with Brie and Tono and the art of Kinbaku.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Not your normal training school.

    Any additional comments?

I think Pippa Jayne did an excellent job with the narration. I hope the next book is on audio soon.

When Evan Trueblood blows into town looking for his wife, Molly, he’s convinced that she came to see her best friend, Jane. But it seems like the witch made it to New Orleans and then disappeared without a trace. Jane is ready to do whatever it takes to find her friend. Her desperate search leads her deep into a web of black magic and betrayal and into the dark history between vampires and witches. But the closer she draws to Molly, the closer she draws to a new enemy - one who is stranger and more powerful than any she has ever faced.

If you could sum up Black Arts in three words, what would they be?

    Totally freaking incredible!

What other book might you compare Black Arts to and why?

For me, just the other books in the series. I haven't read anything else about skinwalkers, (except for maybe Patrica Briggs with her Mercy Thompson coyote shapeshifter). Faith gives us a very unique take on the Jane-verse. I have never read a vampire story that is any thing like it. Very in-depth. Keeps me wanting more.

What does Khristine Hvam bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

OH MY GOODNESS!! Khristine takes the characters and brings them right off the page, for me. Between Faith Hunter's kickbutt writing, (Jane doesn't like cussing, lol), and Khristine Hvam's narration...well, this is one winning team! Khristine is the essence of Jane, Beast, Leo, Bruiser and the rest. If Khristine ever stopped narrating this series, I think I would just skip the audio and read the story myself. Like I said, SHE IS JANE!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Got a rogue vampire problem? Call Jane Yellowrock at Yellowrock Securities. Problem solved, Have Stakes Will Travel

    Any additional comments?

For me, Black Arts is the best book in the series, so far. The book just seemed to flow. I put on my headphones and I can actually see the book come to life. Thank you Faith Hunter for another great book, and thank you Khristine Hvam, for bringing the characters right off the page!

A smashing, award-winning debut novel that introduces Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper. Charley sees dead people. That’s right, she sees dead people. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light”. But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all.

Would you listen to First Grave on the Right again? Why?

You bet!! After a recent contest, I promised Ms. Jones on Facebook, that I would check her series out. I had already started collecting the books, but didn't have them all, and I don't read a series out of order. I am so sorry I waited this long to read the series. Though it is about another bounty hunter, (there seem to be a lot of bounty hunters as main characters these days, but hey, I guess the writers write what the readers like), the storyline is very unique and the main character, Charlotte "Charley" Davidson, is kickass, snarky and pun-ish, when the story calls for it, and beautiful, confidant and sexy the rest of the time. Sometimes she is all of the above all at once and she needs to be with the incredible hunk of a leading man. Reyes Alexander Farrow is HOT!! Who wouldn't want to read about them over and over?

What was one of the most memorable moments of First Grave on the Right?

Without giving any spoilers, (I hate when people do that), the big reveal as to who and what Reyes is, and how that impacts Charley's entire existence.

What does Lorelei King bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love Lorelei King! She is one of my very favorite narrators. Ms. King brings out the personalities of each character, and the emotions, different accents and nuances that make each character individuals.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

YES! I couldn't get the rest of the series downloaded fast enough! I guess I won't be getting much done around my house until I finish the series first time through. I may need to do a back to back listen to the entire series. I'll do the 2ND listen while doing the housework I put off to concentrate listening to first run through. And yes, I did a lot of laughing and a few tears had to be wiped away during the first read.

    Any additional comments?

Darynda Jones is now on my "authors to be watched and pre-ordered" list. I've got my eyes on her YA series when I get my next credits. I am really enjoying her writing style! If you have been thinking about downloading her books, don't wait like I did. In my humble opinion, Darynda Jones really is an awesome writer!

Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow's only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she'd like. Running all their daylight errands - from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg - gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship - and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.

Would you listen to The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires again? Why?

Yes! I listen to all of Molly Harper's books many times and will continue to do so. I love the snarky wit and great one-liners. MH's books are loaded with them.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires?

I don't want to be too specific since I hate giving spoilers, so I'll just say...begining to end. I do guess if I HAD to pick one, I would say when Iris falls oner Cal...literally.

What about Amanda Ronconi’s performance did you like?

Everything! She is such a PERFECT fit for Molly Harper's snark. I don't think you could find anyone better and don't know if I would continue listening to the series, or any of MH's books for that matter, if AR stopped doing the narration. I would still READ the books, but not listen.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Read instructions CAREFULLY before attempting this at home.

    Any additional comments?

Molly Harper is a funny, talented, snarky writer. Add that to Amanda Ronconi's funny, talented and snarky narration and you can't loose. This team is one of my very favorites. WARNING: Do not attempt to read while eating, drinking or needing to empty your bladder, because if you do attempt this while reading, one or three things WILL HAPPEN: You will either choke on your snack, spew your drink or pee yourself from laughing. The Master of Natchez, Mississippi has a nasty problem on his hands. Rogue vampires - those who follow the Naturaleza and believe that humans should be nothing more than prey to be hunted - are terrorizing his city. Luckily, he knows the perfect skinwalker to call in to take back the streets. But what he doesn’t tell Jane is that there’s something different about these vamps. Something that makes them harder to kill - even for a pro like Jane.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have recommended not just this audiobook, but this entire series to many friends and to just about anyone who will listen because I really enjoy Faith Hunter's style of writing and the content (or lack of content. There is NO constant cursing or sex throughout the book. Faith Hunter's books don't need that to carry a story like some other authors feel the need to do. There is enough going on in the JY books, like action packed vamp killing, the Younger brothers, character growth, Ricky Bo, punching werewolves in the face, Bruiser...see a trend here?)And Khristine Hvam's awesome narration.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jane because I like seeing her growth as a person, a family member and friend.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Without giving any spoilers...When Eli meets Beast at the end of chapter 16 "Maggots. I Hate Maggots", and begining of chapter 17 "I Know I'll Have To Choose".

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I don't think there is one any better than Jane's "Have Stakes, Will Travel".

    Any additional comments?

Faith Hunter has brought Jane so far from the begining of the series. She has put Jane in situations that have made her rethink being alone and not needing family, of who she can and can't trust, and her need to learn all she can about her Cherokee roots. I sometimes feel like Jane is a real person, not a fictional character, and when a writer can do that, actually bring a character to life for fans, well, there aren't that many that can do that, at least for me.

As for the narration? There is NO ONE who can read the Jane Yellowrock series except Khristine Hvam. She is the voice of Jane. I don't know how she does it. Khristine seems more relaxed and into the characters with each book in the series. Blood Trade seemed to be effortless for her. In one scene she has 6 different characters having a conversation, and each character has a distinct voice. Khristine Hvam is AMAZING!!

In my opinion...Faith Hunter and Khristine Hvam are a win/win combination. I don't know if you could get any better than this! I can't wait for the next book, Black Arts, due out at the end of the year.

The Rogue Mage series for me was very thought provoking. I could tell that a ton of research was done for this series. The detail was amazing and I don't think I have ever read anything like it. I will listen to or read a lot of books twice back to back because the first time through I do a lot of thinking about different aspects of the book etc. and miss things sometimes miss an important bit of info etc especially if I have read a lot of reviews beforehand. With a second read/listen, I tend to pick up little bits here and there that are important to the storyline. I tend to do this with movies too. Also if I have a copy of the ebook or print on hand, I will read along with the narrator. You would be surprised at how doing this helps enhance the story and help me remember things easier.
Another thing...I kept a pad of paper and pen handy to write down the 26 words I had to look up in the dictionary (I write down and look up words a lot when I read. It helps me fully understand what is being said. I also write down quotes and keep a written log of through books I read). Anyway...this is a great series and author. If you want something different or that makes you think or brings a book out of the "mold", then Faith Hunter is a must read author!!

I love when an author in an anthology separates out their story and does its an ebook novella and then offers the audio of the single authors story. I also enjoy when an author does a book of all of the novellas together from different anthologies and does a special book and audio of only their stories.

Would you listen to Death's Rival again? Why?

I already have. Faith Hunter's books are just great and I have listened to all before this one at least 10 times this year, (this one twice already). I like to put on a book that I have already listened to while doing things around the house etc. Khristine Hvam is also very pleasant to listen to.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Death's Rival?

Oh, I can't give anything away so I'll just say it has to do with Jane and Leo, and Bruiser.

What does Khristine Hvam bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have just "read" the books before and I have to say that Khristine Hvam makes the story "POP" off the pages. She really brings any book she narrates to life. Khristine Hvam is one of my very favorite narrators. If you look at the reviews I have written, you can see that she has narrated a lot of the books I have written about. I love all the voices she gives them but especially Jane, Beast, Angelina and Bruiser.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES IT WAS AND YES I DID!

    Any additional comments?

I really don't know how Faith is going to top this one, but I'm sure she will. Every book in the series is so interesting to me. I have always been a lover of all things Cherokee and she doesn't disappoint.I like that she uses the Cherokee language in the books. Vampires are always a favorite and the back story she has set up is totally different from anything I have ever read. Example:how the Mithrins (please forgive if I misspelled that) got started etc. (found in Blood Cross). I also liked that she tied in the coyote earring she got from Joanne Walker (C.E. Murphy's main character from The Walker Papers) that was mentioned in their collaboration, Easy Pickings. Sounds like we may be getting more from them as a team. I am also in love with Eli and liked the introduction of Eli and Alex. So many things could happen there in future stories. I really enjoy Faith Hunter's books and hope that Audible will put to voice her writings under the name Gwen Hunter. As of right now, I just have to READ them.
