My name is Amelia Gray. I'm a cemetery restorer who sees ghosts. In order to protect myself from the parasitic nature of the dead, I've always held fast to these rules passed down from my father…until now. Detective John Devlin needs my help to find a killer, but he is haunted by ghosts who shadow his every move. To warn him would be to invite them into my life. I've vowed to keep my distance, but the pull of his magnetism grows ever stronger even as the headstone symbols lead me closer to truth and to the gossamer veil that separates this world from the next.

Amanda Stevens is a new author for me and I have to admit that the only reason I downloaded this book was because Khristine Hvam narrated it and I am so happy I did! I am now a fan of Amanda Stevens and I am looking forward to downloading other books by her, (even those not narrated by Khristine Hvam)! She has a way with words that made me feel like I had a ghost touching my hair! Goose bumps galore! This is hands down, a 100% "make you FEEL and SEE" story, and an awesome author and narrator combo. I am now hooked! For me, there was a gothic romance feel to "The Graveyard Queen", Amelia, the main character. And the idea of someone who is so passionate about graveyard restoration.......just wow! I NEVER expected it to end the way it did and was surprised by the "who done it". I don't like to give anything of the story away, so all I can suggest is to read the book blurb, listen to the sample offered and just ENJOY. Downloading book 2 now!

The Master of Natchez, Mississippi has a nasty problem on his hands. Rogue vampires - those who follow the Naturaleza and believe that humans should be nothing more than prey to be hunted - are terrorizing his city. Luckily, he knows the perfect skinwalker to call in to take back the streets. But what he doesn’t tell Jane is that there’s something different about these vamps. Something that makes them harder to kill - even for a pro like Jane.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have recommended not just this audiobook, but this entire series to many friends and to just about anyone who will listen because I really enjoy Faith Hunter's style of writing and the content (or lack of content. There is NO constant cursing or sex throughout the book. Faith Hunter's books don't need that to carry a story like some other authors feel the need to do. There is enough going on in the JY books, like action packed vamp killing, the Younger brothers, character growth, Ricky Bo, punching werewolves in the face, Bruiser...see a trend here?)And Khristine Hvam's awesome narration.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jane because I like seeing her growth as a person, a family member and friend.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Without giving any spoilers...When Eli meets Beast at the end of chapter 16 "Maggots. I Hate Maggots", and begining of chapter 17 "I Know I'll Have To Choose".

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I don't think there is one any better than Jane's "Have Stakes, Will Travel".

    Any additional comments?

Faith Hunter has brought Jane so far from the begining of the series. She has put Jane in situations that have made her rethink being alone and not needing family, of who she can and can't trust, and her need to learn all she can about her Cherokee roots. I sometimes feel like Jane is a real person, not a fictional character, and when a writer can do that, actually bring a character to life for fans, well, there aren't that many that can do that, at least for me.

As for the narration? There is NO ONE who can read the Jane Yellowrock series except Khristine Hvam. She is the voice of Jane. I don't know how she does it. Khristine seems more relaxed and into the characters with each book in the series. Blood Trade seemed to be effortless for her. In one scene she has 6 different characters having a conversation, and each character has a distinct voice. Khristine Hvam is AMAZING!!

In my opinion...Faith Hunter and Khristine Hvam are a win/win combination. I don't know if you could get any better than this! I can't wait for the next book, Black Arts, due out at the end of the year.

The Rogue Mage series for me was very thought provoking. I could tell that a ton of research was done for this series. The detail was amazing and I don't think I have ever read anything like it. I will listen to or read a lot of books twice back to back because the first time through I do a lot of thinking about different aspects of the book etc. and miss things sometimes miss an important bit of info etc especially if I have read a lot of reviews beforehand. With a second read/listen, I tend to pick up little bits here and there that are important to the storyline. I tend to do this with movies too. Also if I have a copy of the ebook or print on hand, I will read along with the narrator. You would be surprised at how doing this helps enhance the story and help me remember things easier.
Another thing...I kept a pad of paper and pen handy to write down the 26 words I had to look up in the dictionary (I write down and look up words a lot when I read. It helps me fully understand what is being said. I also write down quotes and keep a written log of through books I read). Anyway...this is a great series and author. If you want something different or that makes you think or brings a book out of the "mold", then Faith Hunter is a must read author!!

If you could sum up Bloodring in three words, what would they be?

Imaginative, deep and thought provoking. (I know it is four words but that describes it for me)

What other book might you compare Bloodring to and why?

I don't think I have ever read anything quite like it. Wonderfully different.

What about Natalie Gold’s performance did you like?

The flow of the read. The emotion and how she brings the characters off the page and into my reading experience.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Like the book cover says "The Apocalypse Takes Wing"

    Faith Hunter's story of course!

What other book might you compare Strange Brew to and why?

    Pretty much all anthologies.

    Any additional comments?

I love when an author in an anthology separates out their story and does its an ebook novella and then offers the audio of the single authors story. I also enjoy when an author does a book of all of the novellas together from different anthologies and does a special book and audio of only their stories.

For a vampire killer like Jane, having Leo Pellisier as a boss took some getting used to. But now, someone is out to take his place as Master Vampire of the city of New Orleans, and is not afraid to go through Jane to do it. After an attack that’s tantamount to a war declaration, Leo knows his rival is both powerful and vicious, but Leo’s not about to run scared. After all, he has Jane. But then, a plague strikes, one that takes down vampires and makes their masters easy prey.

Would you listen to Death's Rival again? Why?

I already have. Faith Hunter's books are just great and I have listened to all before this one at least 10 times this year, (this one twice already). I like to put on a book that I have already listened to while doing things around the house etc. Khristine Hvam is also very pleasant to listen to.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Death's Rival?

Oh, I can't give anything away so I'll just say it has to do with Jane and Leo, and Bruiser.

What does Khristine Hvam bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have just "read" the books before and I have to say that Khristine Hvam makes the story "POP" off the pages. She really brings any book she narrates to life. Khristine Hvam is one of my very favorite narrators. If you look at the reviews I have written, you can see that she has narrated a lot of the books I have written about. I love all the voices she gives them but especially Jane, Beast, Angelina and Bruiser.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES IT WAS AND YES I DID!

    Any additional comments?

I really don't know how Faith is going to top this one, but I'm sure she will. Every book in the series is so interesting to me. I have always been a lover of all things Cherokee and she doesn't disappoint.I like that she uses the Cherokee language in the books. Vampires are always a favorite and the back story she has set up is totally different from anything I have ever read. Example:how the Mithrins (please forgive if I misspelled that) got started etc. (found in Blood Cross). I also liked that she tied in the coyote earring she got from Joanne Walker (C.E. Murphy's main character from The Walker Papers) that was mentioned in their collaboration, Easy Pickings. Sounds like we may be getting more from them as a team. I am also in love with Eli and liked the introduction of Eli and Alex. So many things could happen there in future stories. I really enjoy Faith Hunter's books and hope that Audible will put to voice her writings under the name Gwen Hunter. As of right now, I just have to READ them.

With wings of midnight and an affinity for shadows, Jason courts darkness. But now, with the Archangel Neha's consort lying murdered in the jewel-studded palace that was his prison and her rage threatening cataclysmic devastation, Jason steps into the light, knowing he must unearth the murderer before it is too late. Earning Neha's trust comes at a price - Jason must tie himself to her bloodline through the Princess Mahiya, a woman with secrets so dangerous, she trusts no one. Least of all an enemy spymaster.

What made the experience of listening to Archangel's Storm the most enjoyable?

The whole flow of the book was great. Ms.Singh just knows how to tell a story and the romantic scenes are just that...romantic. I have listened to and read many books by other authors where the sex is so descriptive I want to skip over those parts, but Ms.Singh plays out her love scenes in a way that isn't outdated like some of the 1980's bodice rippers where the phrase "his manhood" is used over and over, but full of love and romance, which for me are more enjoyable than the bare all/tell all books that make me want to shake my head, roll my eyes and skip the sex scene altogether. Sometimes less is more.

What did you like best about this story?

The way Mahyia is strong and understanding and willing to listen to Jason and not try to one up him about the troubles in her life compared to his. Jason is a very strong man, and Mahyia is a very loving woman. They compliment each others personality. I also like how what was going on in New York and the Refuge were incorporated into the book without over shadowing Jason and Mahyia's story.

What about Justine Eyre’s performance did you like?

Everything. She is one of my favorite narrators. I especially love the voices she does for Dmitri and Illium.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Change is coming within the Cadre.

    Any additional comments?

This is one of my favorite series. I can't get enough of the archangel world and I am always left wondering and looking forward to what comes next.

Angie Baby because of her innocence. And yet.....she thinks like an adult when things get bad and she doesn't panic.

Have you listened to any of Khristine Hvam’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

YOU BET I HAVE!! Khristine Hvam is one of my very favorite narrators. I have several series she has done, and I will pick a new author just because she narrates. People have said that she sounds the same with all her voices. I disagree. Having listened to this series several times, I do hear the difference. The Cajun does need some help, buy otherwise, she is wonderful!!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    OH!! I cried and laughed.

    Any additional comments?

I have read all of the reviews for Faith's books and I don't understand how anyone can bash her like a couple have. I know it is their opinion and they have a right to it. HOWEVER...don't be a hateful, especially if you don't have all the facts straight. Faith had over 15 books written before the Skinwalker series was started (she also writes suspense under the name Gwen Hunter). I'm just sayin'.

Where does Spirit Bound rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top 100 around 95 (I have listened to a lot of books!!) Top 10 series.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the whole Sea Haven small town feel, the love and care between women who have been through the ringer and understand and love unconditionally. I would LOVE to have 130 acres, by the ocean and share it with people I love.

What three words best describe Don Harvey’s performance?

Not his genre. I liked the sound of his voice, however, he didn't do any accents and everyone sounded alike. I would have loved to hear Alyssa Bresnahan do this series. To me, she is the VOICE of Sea Haven.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    I have NO idea. LOL

    Any additional comments?

I am really hoping for a different narrator. I hate putting a narrator down but like I said, this was not Mr. Harvey's type of story. Sorry.
