A US Army Special Forces team carrying sterilized weapons and unmarked uniforms is on its way to Colombia. The mission: conduct covert, unilateral raids to destroy cocaine processing laboratories. Of course nothing is as it seems especially once the CIA gets involved. Throw in an Israeli mercenary, betrayal and double-dealing in Washington and the team soon finds itself wondering what the real mission is.

What did you like best about Eyes of the Hammer? What did you like least?

The lead character is nicely developed and the story itself is good.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

yes, it was a good plot and story line.

What aspect of Steven Cooper’s performance would you have changed?

He needs to do a little more research on pronunciation of military terminology.

Could you see Eyes of the Hammer being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Sure, Hollywood would love this anti-military and anti-CIA plot line. Maybe even Woody Harrelson or Sean Penn. You could even have Rachel Maddow play the seasoned Green Beret Warrant Officer.

  • One Rough Man: A Pike Logan Thriller

A former Delta Force commander, Brad Taylor proves with this breathtaking debut thriller that Vince Flynn and Brad Thor have company. A collection of top operatives, the Taskforce was commissioned by the highest levels of government, kept secret from the media and even Congress. The best of the Taskforce bunch, Pike Logan knows the greatest threat to American security is one or two idealogues. Unfortunately for them, they’ve just crossed Pike’s path.

What was most disappointing about Brad Taylor’s story?

This was so poorly written. Sounded like a high school term paper.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of J. D. Jackson and Neil Kaplan ?

    My cat.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from One Rough Man?

Much of the story is just so lame, and contrived. I am at a loss of words to express my dissatisfaction with book.

    Any additional comments?

This one was so bad, I am returning it.

  • Option to Kill: A Nathan McBride Novel, Book 3

When Nathan McBride receives a text message from someone who claims she’s been kidnapped, it triggers a deadly chain of events that has the potential to haunt him for the rest of his life. Nathan will soon learn that nothing from his past could ever prepare him for the crisis he’ll soon be facing. The girl’s name is Lauren and she’s just 12 years old.

What did you like best about Option to Kill? What did you like least?

Option To Kill has a great story line and concept. It is destroyed as Nathan McBride spends 90% of the books as an unbelievable character. In one scene the a group of bad guys is shooting at him with automatic machine guns and we get to hear him do some of his always present introspection as he decides"I can't shoot (into this warehouse parking lot) for fear of a possible stray bullet hit an innocent person. Now remember he is getting hosed by several machine guns. This book was like Andrew Peterson was conflicted with writing a good story or a Dr Phil Self-Help book. He ruined the story line.

If you’ve listened to books by Andrew Peterson before, how does this one compare?

The story line involves much dialogue by a 1`2 year girl. Do you really think a 40 something old man can credibly play a 12 year old girl. I will give you the answer - no.

How could the performance have been better?

They could have spent a little money to hire a female voice to do the little girl and the several female roles in the book

Did Option to Kill inspire you to do anything?

It inspired me to not buy any more Nathan McBride books. His character is not realistic.

    Any additional comments?

Hire females to read female charcters.

What did you like best about On Target? What did you like least?

The concept was good, the story was good.

What could Mark Greaney have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Greany made the Grey Man an idiot. for an experienced assassin the Grey Man was stupid about antibiotics, tapped phones, tracking phones and people. Then to make it even more unbelievable he throws in Grey Man on drugs. How totally stupid!

Was On Target worth the listening time?

No skip this one. It will not impact you if you are reading all three Grey Man novels. this is a better door stop.

What did you love best about The Forgotten?

I am not a fan of all of Baldacci's books but this one is well worth the read. I loved best the fact I did not figure out the end until the very end.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Very much a page turner. A great read to get away from the world for a few hours.

The anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts one of the most dramatic stories in American history—how one gunshot changed the country forever. In the spring of 1865, the bloody saga of America's Civil War finally comes to an end after a series of increasingly harrowing battles. President Abraham Lincoln's generous terms for Robert E. Lee's surrender are devised to fulfill Lincoln's dream of healing a divided nation. But one man and his band of murderous accomplices are not appeased....

What was one of the most memorable moments of Killing Lincoln?

There were many factoids all throughout the book which are great to know about the civil war and Lincoln.

What does Bill O'Reilly bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A very dynamic reading. Exceptionally well done.

This was a good well written and presented story. The ending however, seemed like Berenson got tired of creative writing and just let it meander to an ending. Still makes for a good "read." I gave it 4 stars.

Not a big fan of the Camel Club, so it took me awhile to warm up to it. It was 3 stars, still not sure I am a camel club fan, but Baldacci's writing style is vert good. Yea, it's worth a read.
