I really wanted to like this book. But...during every single one of the first 12 chapters, I thought about returning it, until I finally decided to just power through it and listen no matter what. Unfortunately, it never really paid off. I never really cared about any of the characters or what happened to them. There is sense that this book constantly strives to acheive a level of suspense and drama that it never manages to pull off. Part of that is due to the story and part is due to the performance of the narrator. There are many, many times when she has long awkward pauses as if she thinks the sentence or thought the author is trying to convey is done, but then suddenly realizes there's more. The cadence of the performance goes wrong. The 3 main male characters all sound way too similar. I think the most interesting parts are the quotations from the various books and pamphlets that start each chapter. The villain never comes off as terribly menacing and the story isn't really engrossing. There were many long periods where my attention drifted and when I came back to listening, I didn't feel like I missed anything important. In short...skip it.

A good, fun book, suitable for a cross-country flight or something. The characters are pretty decently developed, but I felt like the story was too short. There's ample ground left to cover at the end, so hopefully there will be more to come.

I've become a huge fan of Kevin Hearne and Luke Daniels thanks to the Iron Druid Chronicles. I hate it when one book ends because I can't wait to get to the next one... I would love to see the series become films, but I fear they wouldn't do the books justice. Fantastic characters, great writing, excellent performance. GET IT!!!

This almost doesn't qualify as a gay romance novel, in a very good way. Yes, there is some of that, but only enough to cement the relationship between Bear and Otter, and it's not nearly as graphic as some of the novels I've come across. The Kid is a great character, and he's supposed to be super smart with great intuition, but he sometimes seems far too intelligent for a 9 year old, almost to the point of unbelievability. But that's really the only big flaw in this story. You will find yourself rooting for Bear, Otter and the Kid. I didn't want it to end, and I hope there's more to come.

This book was not at all what I was expecting, and was actually something of an accidental download. What a fortunate accident! I haven't enjoyed a book this much in a long time. The central character, Atticus, is smart, witty, and charming. His Irish wolfhound, Oberon, is absolutely, hysterically hilarious. The supernatural and mythology interwoven with the modern day world give this book an entertaining and educational twist that will keep your attention. I've already bought the second and third installments and can't wait to hear them.

Imaginative, sexy, funny and HOT! Great narration by Sean Crisden. Definitely worth a listen.

The main character, Kaden, remains fearful and distrustful of Logan for too long.

The most interesting part was Kaden's background story.

Awkward, long pauses when reading character's quotes followed by "...he said." A few mispronunciations of words. Announces title of book before every chapter, which was annoying, but there's no announcement of any kind for chapter 11, not even the chapter number.

No, the story ends well enough.
