"Totally stupid and irresponsible"
really dumb, boring, and silly. It's shameful to even give this one star.
I'd like the 7 hours of my life, that I wasted, returned to me.
What's next? "Mother Theresa: Alien Prostitute"?
"You learn something new everyday!"
Absolutely great! Very important read for anybody who thinks they know everything
about our greatest President and anybody who wishes to learn about mental illness.
The book is told in sort of a lecture like presentation but then after a few minutes, you feel as if the writer( Mr. Shenk ) and the narrator (Mr. Davidson) are talking to YOU personally.
I listened to this every day on my way to work and hated when I arrived there. Couldn't wait to head home, to get back into this wonderful book.
Enjoy-
Well recommended!
"Entertaining!"
Pretty good and very exciting...at times.
Surprised Spielberg hasn't made this into a fill length film yet.
Very enjoyable to listen to.
"Thought it would be better than it was."
I've always been fascinated with the life of T.R. But this book, although deep in facts, is a little boring. Not the author's fault. It's just a very boring period in the life of Teddy.
He comes off sounding more like Rudolph Guilliani in his pre-9-11 years, then he does when he took on the big corporations and the Anti-trust battles at the turn of the century.
Overall, kind of blah.
"absolutely fascinating! Incredible!"
This is a incredible piece of American history in which Ms.Millard delivers with brilliancy.
I never thought she would be able to top her "RIver of Doubt"( Teddy Roosevelt's journey down the Amazon River) but, she does here. This is an entertaining, sad, but all the time, interesting story of a forgotten President. Highly recommended if you love American history.
Other than the shooting at the hands of Charles Guiteau and brutal treatment by his own doctors, the only thing sadder is how we as a nation, were robbed of James Garfield and how he could have offered so much to our nation. Thanks to Ms. Millard, our 20th president has now become a new hero of mine.
THIS IS A GREAT BOOK! I ENJOYED IT IMMENSELY!
"Assassin's Accomplice"
I feel as if I wasted several hours of my life listening to this boring text book-like story.
The author brought nothing new to the table. Mrs Surratt is as guilty as the first book I ever read about her, yet somehow, this book was sold to me as some new important evidence to support
her innocence. In short, weak and un-entertaining. I almost drove my car off a cliff numerous times listening to this book. I'd like my money back please.
"Union 1812"
learned a few new things but overall, pretty boring. Fell asleep at the wheel several times.
Andrew Jackson is a real creep. Why is he on the 20 Dollar bill?
"Good but flawed."
Great narration by Mr Herrmann as always. Learned things in this book that I never knew.
Sound quality was poor at times and the background music in some chapters was a little annoying.
Other than that, very good.
But...not as entertaining as "Manhunt"
