This New York Times best-seller is the astonishing life story of award-winning humanitarian Ayaan Hirsi Ali. A deeply respected advocate for free speech and women's rights, Hirsi Ali also lives under armed protection because of her outspoken criticism of the Islamic faith in which she was raised.

    "This takes courage to publish"

After getting through the accent, I was awakened to a naked truth that this woman is telling us. It is our responsibility as free women and people to look into matters of abuse, torture, and slavery that comes with following a religion that does not allow thinking and questioning. All religions are based on words that are written by men, and used to keep people in check. I am amazed in the transformation and the courage this took to brake away from the teachings of her clan and her culture. I wish I could do something to help these women from this culture, sometimes the unknown is more scary than living with such restraints of culture.

I recommend this book for a glimpse into a world that most Western Countries have no clue to.

I absolutely loved this book, I cryed, laughed, and got my cherokee dander up. My love for history was satisfied, and I am actually going to read again. The Woman on both sides were strong and the type of women it took to live out west. Again, I loved the book and recommened it to all my friends.

Growing up in a world of physical and emotional poverty, Ruth believes her shrewish mother's assessment of her - that she is dimwitted and worthless. When she marries an emotionally unstable ne'er-do-well, her troubles only multiply. Her job at the dry cleaners can't afford her little family the luxury of moving out of her mother's house. As the incessant bickering between her troubled husband and her abusive mother reaches a violent climax, Ruth must find a way to survive.

"Very depressing, and much to slow for my liking"
    Overall

Victims are totally not my cup of tea. I was completely disappointed in this book. Knowing a little about this background, there were moments when I felt that she was smart and going to get out from behind the cloud that she was born under. It shed a completely deferent light on her when her brother’s letter was read, and she did not get it, instead she was angry with him, when she should have seen that he was her victim and the brunt of her anger, as she was her mother’s. Very disappointing, would not and have not recommended it.

Mason "Mace" Perry was a firebrand cop on the D.C. police force until she was kidnapped and framed for a crime. She lost everything-her badge, her career, her freedom-and spent two years in prison. Now she's back on the outside and focused on one mission: to be a cop once more. Her only shot to be a true blue again is to solve a major case on her own, and prove she has the right to wear the uniform.

David, has become my new best friend. I love his books and thought I would not like something without Oliver, however, I want more of the Perry sisters, and more of Davids books.

When we first meet 14-year-old Susie Salmon, she is already in heaven. In the sweet, untroubled voice of a precocious teenage girl, Susie relates the awful events of her death and her own adjustment to the strange new place where she finds herself. With love, longing, and a growing understanding, Susie watches her family as they cope with their grief. This story of seemingly unbearable tragedy is transformed into a suspenseful and touching narrative about family, memory, love, heaven, and living.

When I was finished with book, I was left empty. I know it was suppose to be uplifting, however, I was left feeling that somehow the main character Suzi, spent 8years lusting over Ray, and not enough time helping catch this evil human on earth. I must have missed something along the way, or at least that's how it made me feel. When she did have the chance to give her family closure, she ended up using that time to use Ruths body for pleasure, while her killer was right there.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

    "Loved this book"
    Overall

This book evokes the need for us to examine how hate and racial bias are really taught to us. The way this was presented was intelligent and real. All the characters were part of thier own conditioning, and are really trapped into thier own worlds. Some awaken and take thier blinders off, and some remain there forever. I loved this book, and would recommend it to anyone. Please read it.

Born a generation apart and with very different ideas about love and family, Mariam and Laila are two women brought jarringly together by war, by loss, and by fate. As they endure the ever escalating dangers around them, in their home as well as in the streets of Kabul, they come to form a bond that makes them both sisters and mother-daughter to each other, and that will ultimately alter the course not just of their own lives but of the next generation.

I thought The Kite Runner was great, this book is just as good. Please read this book, I wonder how woman endure this type of abuse and hate at the hands of thier husbands and men who are so full of rage, I was appalled and saddened by what these woman go through. This book does not lend good feelings about the muslum world for us Westerners. I guess we will never understand this way of thinking, thank GOD.

Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

This book started off very slow, and I thought that I was not going to continue listening. However, about a quarter way through I found myself engrossed in it. I loved the characters, especially Lizbeth, I loved her grit. I recommend this book, am glad I did not give up.

When the NSA's invincible code-breaking machine encounters a mysterious code it cannot break, the agency calls its head cryptographer, Susan Fletcher, a brilliant, beautiful mathematician. What she uncovers sends shock waves through the corridors of power. The NSA is being held hostage, not by guns or bombs, but by a code so complex that if released it would cripple U.S. intelligence.
