When young magicians Carter and Sadie Kane learned how to follow the path of the Ancient Egyptian gods, they knew they would have to play an important role in restoring Ma’at (order) to the world. What they didn’t know is how chaotic the world would become. The Chaos snake Apophis is loose and threatening to destroy the Earth in three days’ time. The magicians are divided. The gods are disappearing, and those who remain are weak. What are a couple of teenagers and a handful of young trainees to do?

Would you consider the audio edition of The Serpent's Shadow: The Kane Chronicles, Book 3 to be better than the print version?

I did not read the print version, but the voice acting is very good in the series

Who was your favorite character and why?

Both readers do a great job of bringing the story to life. Carter and Sadie are both interesting, and while things become a bit predictable at the end, it is a great end to the series.

What about Katherine Kellgren and Kevin R. Free ’s performance did you like?

Both did an excellent job. They are very capable of putting you into the character first hand.

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library.

If you could sum up A Discovery of Witches in three words, what would they be?

Hard for me to tell if this was a romance novel, or a scifi / fantasy novel. All in all, it was a good listen, and I believe I will obtain the next book when it comes out, but SOME editing could have been done.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Good setup for another book, while leaving the listeners in a comfortable place

If you could sum up Crucial Confrontations in three words, what would they be?

It is a great short guide to dealing with conflict. Like many other books, the content is not earth shattering, but the delivery is good

Would you listen to another book narrated by Barrett Whitener?

Hard to say, this was not "story" content, so I could not get a good feel for his narrating abilities with more "adventurous" content.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

The principles of the book are all sound. Dealing with conflict, you must be humble, but fearless; most of all honest and direct, while not approaching the situation inappropriately.

What did you love best about The Red Pyramid?

The performance by the two readers was fantastic. The content was new, and the story does a great job of combining history with SciFi

What does Kevin R. Free and Katherine Kellgren bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They do a fantastic job of portraying the characters. Plus, as the book was written as an "audio transcript" it was a perfect fit for audio

Ben Holiday, High Lord of the magic kingdom of Landover, and his wife Willow have sent their 15-year-old daughter Mistaya to our world to attend a prestigious girls' boarding school. Mistaya--Misty to her friends--is not pleased with the arrangement. She is forbidden to use her magic for any reason, can't understand why other girls her own age don't revere the natural world, and is too clever for her own good in coming up with activities definitely not contained in the private school charter.

What did you love best about A Princess of Landover?

Glad to see another book in the series come out on Audio

If you’ve listened to books by Terry Brooks before, how does this one compare?

Typical Terry Brooks, for the series, but not as powerful as the first few books

    Any additional comments?

All in all it was a good listen, and I was glad to see another book in the series. The momentum is slowing down, however, and I'm not sure if another book in the series, with out some serious effort, is a good idea..
