Elizabeth McGovern does a superb job of narrating this well written book. It was wonderful to learn about the backstory of the TV series and the lives of the characters that we know and love.

Mindy Kaling's book is amusing and well read by the author. If you're looking for a book you can finish in a day, this is a fun listen.

The author writes mediocre at best. I've seen high school essays with more depth and better command of the English language than this.

EL James' lack of imagination in writing shows up with her constant and distracting use of "holy sh*t" or "oh, my" to everything that happens to Ana. Couldn't she come up with some more interesting phrases than those?

I can understand why this book gets all the hype with the mommy porn throughout, but frankly the story just isn't that interesting. Girl meets guy who is deranged, they have very kinky sex and in the end she leaves him because he likes to hit her (I know there are two more volumes, but please). I listened to about half the second book, but just can't face the boringness of the story that goes on between the BDSM scenes.

The story is well done and pulls you through the "reading". I've listened to later Cornwell books and didn't know the history of early interactions between Scarpetta and Benson.

She needs to be reading all of the Cornwell books. Later narrators are not as good. However, her performance of Marino's voice got a bit grating towards the end.

Calico Joe is a compelling book about a man's relationship with his baseball playing father (or lack of relationship). The characters are real and honest.

Grishom's description of the 11 year old Paul and his love of baseball is divine.

Erik Singer has a soothing tempo and matter of fact-ness in his presentation. He does well with switching between voices in a way that is not distracting.

Whether you are a lover of baseball or simply enjoy a good story well told, you'll like Calico Joe.

Plot was intriguing, although sometimes it got bogged down because there are too many things going on at once. The ego of Kay sometimes gets in the way...everything is always caused by her acts or omissions, at least in her mind.

If you're driving in your car with nothing better to listen to, give this a try.

One of the least inspiring narrators I've heard. Mispronounced words drove me crazy. E.g., saline was pronounced
