Ten years after the publication of Wicked, beloved novelist Gregory Maguire returns at last to the land of Oz. There he introduces us to Liir, an adolescent boy last seen hiding in the shadows of the castle after Dorothy did in the Witch. Bruised, comatose, and left for dead in a gully, Liir is shattered in spirit as well as in form. But he is tended at the Cloister of Saint Glinda by the silent novice called Candle, who wills him back to life with her musical gifts.

    Overall

When I first picked this up, I didn't realize it was the sequel to Wicked. It has been a long time afterall since Wicked. Very enjoyable listen start to finish, and one I would recommend.

Armed only with a frying pan and her common sense, Tiffany Aching, a young witch-to-be, is all that stands between the monsters of Fairyland and the warm, green Chalk country that is her home. Forced into Fairyland to seek her kidnapped brother, Tiffany allies herself with the Chalk's local Nac Mac Feegle, aka the Wee Free Men, a clan of sheep-stealing, sword-wielding, six-inch-high blue men who are as fierce as they are funny.

    Overall

This is the first Tiffany Aching book if you're a Prachett fan you'll know what I'm talking about. The story is good and funny like Prachett's others. If you like fantasy and humor, this is a good choice.

A tour-de-force novel set in ancient Japan filled with passion, fantasy, and feuding warlords. The first volume in the highly anticipated Tales of the Otori trilogy.

    "Good start"
    Overall

Just finished The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches and this was recommended highly. I've enjoyed this first book and will probably go on to the second one. This doesn't get all five stars from me but does come close.

After the Great War that divided the peoples, the kingdoms of men plunged into a Dark Age that lasted 500 years. To heal the lands and restore the light, the great kings decreed that magic and all that is magical, be it creature, man, or device, shall be cleansed to dust. The cleansing raged for so long that no human could recall a time without it and it is in this time that the Dark Lord Sathar returned from the dark beyond.

"Second listen even better than first"
    Overall

What can I say except that others haven't except maybe to say the second listen was even better than the first. I caught so many little details I missed the first time, and it made the story all the better. A great series if you give it a chance.

Adrina, Emel, Vilmos, Galan, and Seth face even greater challenges as their world is transformed. Vilmos, in his quest to become the first human magus in a thousand years, must control the darkness within him. Adrina must accept her place and work together with Emel to help the elves make their plea to Great Kingdom's council. What happens will amaze you.

    Henry says: "The VERY BEST"
    "This is amazing!"
    Overall

I've enjoyed listening to all three books so far. I didn't think the author could out do the second one, but this is by far the best one. For me the characters are the best part of the story. I've enjoyed following Adrina, Vilmos and Seth's adventures. Emel is also a favorite and he starts to accept who he is. The introduction of Myrial and Edward makes an already strong cast of characters even better. Listen to the first two and then listen to this one.
