As Carl Sagan did for astronomy and Brian Green did for cosmology, Walter Lewin takes listeners on a marvelous journey in For the Love of Physics, opening our eyes as never before to the amazing beauty and power with which physics can reveal the hidden workings of the world all around us. "I introduce people to their own world," writes Lewin, "the world they live in and are familiar with but don't approach like a physicist - yet."

Why didn't I get taught this in high school.....hell!... elementary school. I would have loved it if it was taught like this.

For readers and viewers of The Perfect Storm, opening this long-awaited work by Sebastian Junger will be like stepping off the deck of the Andrea Gail and into the inferno of a fire burning out of control in the steep canyons of Idaho. Here is the same meticulous prose brought to bear on the inner workings of a terrifying elemental force; here is a cast of characters risking everything in an effort to bring that force under control.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If even half the book would have been about fire or firefigthers.

What was most disappointing about Sebastian Junger’s story?

    Very little is about fire.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator did his job fine.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not many, the first chapters are about fire, and don't get very deep into them. It's more like long news reports. The book then goes off into totally unrelated subjects.

    Any additional comments?

When it got into whales and war, I kept forwarding through little be little. I kept thinking "This is just me being impatient, this is a round about way to get to the consequences of the fire." Nope no fire, no firefighters, just stuff i didn't buy this book to hear about.
