They were just kids when they stumbled upon the horror of their hometown. Now, as adults, none of them can withstand the force that has drawn them all back to Derry, Maine, to face the nightmare without end, and the evil without a name.

    "Fantastic audiobook!"
    Overall

I read the book when it first came out in the 80's and thoroughly enjoyed it. Mr. Weber does an excellent job with a very difficult task. I really hope if they ever make an audiobook of "The Stand" that they get him to read it!

Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

"A less than stellar treatment for a great book"
    Overall

I've listen to all of the Prequel books and have read the original Dune many times in the past. While the other novels were not as good as the original, their audio versions are far more superior due to the consistency of having one reader do all the voices, instead of alternating between having the main reader do all the voices and having different people do different characters.

Having an ensemble do the reading can be wonderful (look at the Golden Compass Books for a good example of this). But the inconsistency in this reading makes it hard to follow and produces poor results.
