"Good story, but stuffy reading and too much detail"
The first few chapters of this audiobook almost made me not continue listening. I thought the reader, Kevin Pariseau, sounded too stuffy and maybe it was just me, but I just wasn't crazy about his style...maybe it sounded too formal?
Anyway, the other factor that almost made me stop listening was the amount of laborious detail about early computers - the circuit boards and components, chips, etc. It was an amount of detail I think would tune out the typical listener and interest mostly engineering types.
I decided to keep listening and as the lives of Steve Jobs and the co-founders of Apple progressed, it did get more interesting and I'm glad I listened all the way through. While it still had too much detail, the story was pretty interesting, fascinating really, and I would recommend it. Maybe you'll want to skip some of part 1, but part 2 was definitely better and a good listen on my commutes back and forth from work.
"A Great Sequel"
I bought this because my wife had read the series about a year ago and she loved all three books. As a sequel, I thought it was pretty much as great as the first, and I think the reader, Carolyn McCormick, again did a great job. Well done. I'm looking forward to the final book, especially since I've read reviews that both loved it and didn't like it...
"Loved it!"
I bought this because my wife had read the series about a year ago and she loved all three books. Since the movie was coming out, I thought I would get started, and I wasn't disappointed. The story was great, and I thought the reading by Carolyn McCormick added to the story, I think she did a great job. Well done, and now looking forward to the movie!
"Great Book for Serious Fathers"
My daughter is about to turn 9 and enter the 4th grade soon. While we have a pretty good relationship, I knew I had many areas I could improve on. Developing a closer relationship with her and really getting serious about setting the standard for her for her future husband really motivated me to listen to this book.
There were many great lessons and excellent stories - success stories and cautionary tales of fathers who messed up and fathers who turned it around. The book has motivated me and inspired me to be a better father and a more Godly father. On a minor note, the reader is a bit stiff, not very animated but not bad either...but the content should definitely keep you going.
I have put to practice some of the advice and within 1-2 weeks our relationship had already improved, and my wife has noticed as well and is very happy about it. It has blessed me and I look to continually be the father she needs, wants and deserves. I highly recommend this book!
