Where does Last to Die rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's definitely one of the best audible books I've listened to. I listen in my lunch hour and had to turn it off with 50 minutes to go - but I JUST COULDN'T DO IT. So I listened to it holding my hand over my ear even tho I'm on a switchboard. I just had to turn my iPad off every time a call came in. It was truly great with some real twists & turns - especially at the end.. I loved it. Also Tanya Eby is such a good narrator - I'm definitely going to look out for her

What was one of the most memorable moments of Last to Die?

40 minutes from the end -to say more would give it away - great ending, totally out of nowhere

A historical novel of love and survival inspired by real resistance workers in World War II Austria and the mysterious love letter that connects generations of Jewish families. A heartbreaking, heartwarming story for fans of The Nightingale, Lilac Girls, and Sarah's Key.

My father was Jewish & left Vienna when he was 25 with his mother & sister in May 1938. They lost everything but he started a new life here in Australia. He died in 1986 & I was so sad that he didn't live to see the Wall come down. This book was bittersweet to me and I am so glad I read it. It was marvellous.

When a woman's body is discovered in a cathedral and hours later a young man is found hanging from a tree outside his home, Detective Lottie Parker is called in to lead the investigation. Both bodies have the same distinctive tattoo clumsily inscribed on their legs. It's clear the pair are connected, but how? The trail leads Lottie to St Angela's, a former children's home, with a dark connection to her own family history. Suddenly the case just got personal.

Lots of twists & turns. Very timely subject matter, the Irish accents were wonderful. A truely believable heroine with some flaws with a great support cast. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this book & can't wait for books 2, 3, 4 etc etc. I hope she gets a move on as I am most impatient.

The endgame is at hand for Penn Cage, his family, and the enemies bent on destroying them in this revelatory volume in the epic trilogy set in modern-day Natchez, Mississippi - Greg Iles' epic tale of love and honor, hatred and revenge that explores how the sins of the past continue to haunt the present.

I enjoyed The first two books in the series but didn't feel drawn to the second last one and this one was just boring it was a ridiculous plot and the way it ended was just pathetic. Unfortunately it will put me off any further Greg Iles books. I actually skipped quite a few chapters in the second half because it was just so depressing. I don't expect every book to have a happy ending but this was 'beyond the pale'.

No more for me. It was a waste of my time

This woman knows how to write I have listened to this book twice & can't believe how well Jodi Picoult portrays the way people feel, behave and live who they are. All her characters are solid well defined people & even with a subject as difficult as the holocaust, she writes with such understanding of the different feelings & emotions of all involved, whether survivors, victims or perpetrators. I know I will come back to this book again & again. As I do with many of Jodi Picoult's books. They stimulate MY emotions & feelings.

This has to be the worst book I have read in ages - no wonder it was in the '2 for one credit' listing (although the other book I bought was excellent). The characters are one dimensional & totally unlikable. The narrator has no ability doing male voices - it would have been better if she just read it. Perhaps I might have liked it had I read it but listening to it was like listening to chalk on a blackboard. The older daughter was whinging & whiny. She neede to be told to pipe down but isn't. The mother was such a weak woman who couldn't stand up for herself. It was appalling. I reached Chapter 6 & just couldn't put up with any more. Save your money. I've listened to other books in that price ($7-$8) & they were excellent. I've read joy fielding books back in the 90's & enjoyed them - not this one.

John Milton is trying to make amends for a career spent killing for the British Secret Service. He has a burning need to right wrongs - and rewrite his own bloody past. He finds himself in Louisiana - the Big Sleazy, the bayou, and the post-Katrina wreckage of the Gulf Coast - with a debt of honor to repay. Isadora Bartholomew, who saved his partner's life, needs his help. Joel Babineaux, a ruthless property magnate, is out to sink the charity she established to help rebuild the Lower Ninth Ward.

Good story but the lead female is rather annoying the way she argues about everything that's Milton is doing to help her just so annoying & frustrating. I found myself saying 'oh for god's sake just shut up and just do it'. The narrators American accents especially the female ones again rather disturbing. Lots of room for improvement.

John Milton has started to hope that he might have a future. He has a job driving a taxi around the streets of San Francisco. He has his anonymity and his solitude. Being invisible has become a comfortable habit. He doesn't want to be found. But when a girl he drives to a party goes missing, Milton is worried. Especially when two dead bodies are discovered, and the police start treating him as their prime suspect. Milton is a fugitive from the British Secret Service, and a man in his position needs extra attention like he needs a hole in the head.

For three years, Detective Jude Fontaine was kept from the outside world. Held in an underground cell, her only contact was with her sadistic captor, and reading his face was her entire existence. Learning his every line, every movement, and every flicker of thought is what kept her alive. After her experience with isolation and torture, she is left with a fierce desire for justice - and a heightened ability to interpret the body language of both the living and the dead.

Nick Heller is tough, smart, and stubborn. And in his line of work, it's essential. Trained in the Special Forces, Nick is a high-powered intelligence investigator - exposing secrets that powerful people would rather keep hidden. He's a guy you don't want to mess with. He's also the man you call when you need a problem fixed. Desperate, with nowhere else to run, Nick's nephew, Gabe makes that call one night.

The story might have been reasonable if I'd been able to finish the book but the narators voices for Laura & Gabe were absolutely terrible & incredible off-putting. I got halfway thru the first half of the book & just couldn't take it anymore. The whinging whining voices were SO bad. I will be asking for my money back. I've listened to over 1000 books on audible but I've never heard anything as bad as this. It's a shame as I really like James Finder & I'm sure I would have liked this story but..... Could it be done again with a better reader? I've returned other books when I didn't like the narator but OMG NEVER were they as bad as this.
