Where are all the negative reviews coming from? I just re-listened to first two books when The book of Life was released. I thought it was similar in tempo, style and narration to the previous 2. A great getaway after a busy day at work. Loved it!

This series is a little slow to start, but the 4 books are all so addictive I couldn't sleep. A little magic (which does not overwhelm book so don't let that scare you off), a little romance, a lot of adventure = one of my favorite series in years.

One of the most original and interesting story lines in years. I actually listened to the first 2 books after reading them several years ago. This story is a little slow getting started but the last 3/4 of first book and following 3 books are so good, its worth the slow character development up front.

With BDB I found that books got better as they went. This series to me has become predictable. Although I really enjoyed first two books of this series, I will not finish the remainder of series.

America's master storyteller continues his reign with Love and War, a story steeped in passion and betrayal. With the Confederate and Union armies furiously fighting, the once-steadfast bond between the Main and Hazard families continues to be tested. If you could sum up Love and War in three words, what would they be?

    Captivating, intricate, occasionally predictable

What other book might you compare Love and War to and why?

I would compare to Outlander in that both sagas are captivating and the character development is extraordinary.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The series is so in depth it is difficult to pick just one.

Who was the most memorable character of Love and War and why?

Madeline Mayne (funny how on audiobooks you are unsure of spelling of names) is compelling.

    Any additional comments?

I couldnt stop listening to this series
