"Abby Normal rocks!"
This has to be the funniest thing I have ever heard! First, the content is hilarious & I found myself laughing out loud at the most inopportune moments (walking down the isle at the local grocery store, laughing hysterically- alone- does tend to attract some strange looks...) But, the narration is what makes this downright crazy and unforgettable!! I am way too old to be talking like Abby, but am finding myself using key phrases of hers, much to the dismay of my teenager lol. This has to be the best $12 I've ever spent on entertainment! I can't wait to pick up more Christopher Moore titles & pray I can get another Abby Normal fix!!
"Fun, witty, makes me smile!"
I love most of JC's books, as I'm a chick-lit fan; but this one is my favorite! It's very smart, very witty and the characters are relate-able. I often picture this in my head as a Lifetime movie or something. It's that cleverly written and that much fun. Wish they WOULD make it a movie lol. I don't know what it is about this story, but it makes my heart warm. I keep it on my iPod at all times, and start it up again if I need a mood-booster :)
"Shame on me!"
Unlikely. I've read lots of fanfiction that far surpasses the quality of EL James' writing. I knew going into this purchase this was fanfic, but I assumed it must be better than the rest as it was a NYT best seller, right? Wrong.
I don't knw. THe narrator can't necessarily be blamed for the bad writing. And the fact that the narator's voice sounds more like a petulant high schooler rather than a burgeoning young woman can only be blamed on whomever cast her for this book.
Ana's inner goddess. Ugh.
Save your ceredits people. If you're looking for an erotic novel to listen to, pick another one and save yourself the frustration of this mess.
"Narration a HUGE issue this time around!"
What the heck happened this time? I've read the first 12 in order, and until this book was extremely happy with the series!! Now, this one comes along and there is barely any differentiation from characters. I'm only 3 chapters in, and by other reviews, doesn't seem like it will get any better the further I go (if I decide to go further). So far, the biggest disappointment has to be the lack of Peabody. I LOVE PEABODY! Now, her voice is no different than Eve's. I've already gotten the next 2 books in the series, and hope I didn't waste my money on them as I feel like I did with this one. I can honestly say that while JD Robb's writing has me coming back, the biggest enjoyment out of this series so far has been the voice characterization put into the books by the narrator. Until now, that is. What a huge disappointment!
"enjoyable, but..."
I loved how this wrapped up the Quinn's story. However, the problem I had with this was the narration. Many times, there was a southern drawl to many of the characters. Seeing as how the characters are all from the northeastern seaboard, and none of them had an accent in the previous 3 books in this set, it was distracting. Very distracting. The accent seemed to disappear in the last few chapters, which again, was distracting & odd. Not to mention the character's voices weren't well distinguished. The 3 stars combine my 4-star rating for the story & plot, and my 2-star rating for narration.
"Enjoyed this"
I liked the narrator, loved the storyline & the mystery surrounding the plot. I went out & got the next 3 in the series as soon as I finished this one!
