    • Narrated By George Newbern

When their last outgoing flight is cancelled, Ben finds a charter plane that can take him around the storm and drop him in Denver to catch a connection. And when the pilot says the single-engine prop plane can fit one more, if barely, Ben offers the seat to Ashley, knowing that she needs to get home just as urgently. And then the unthinkable happens. The pilot has a heart attack, and the plane crashes into one of the largest stretches of harsh and remote land in the United States.

Dennis says: "I gave this book every chance"
    "Could NOT put this down!!!!"

From the very 1st line of this book to the last, I was captivated. Pulled in, hooked, engrossed. " Totally exciting and on the edge of your seat" reading. I had read some reviews on this book and had seen it in a couple of my magazines as a "must read". Now I understand why!!! I was so engrossed in this book that I could not put it down.....I had to know what was going to happen next! I am not a fast reader because I have problems with my eyes. But, I read this book in 1 1/2 days!!! For me, that is WAAAY fast. I would read till things were blurry and stop and rest my eyes and then read again. I loved the book so much that I bought the Audible version because this is one I will read/listen to again!!! I cannot imagine going through all these 2 people go think "it can't get any worse" and then,..... there it is, something worse!!! I loved the way he wrote this book and the charactors are so real that you instantly fall in love with them. I laughed and I cried, I got mad and sad, a mark of a great book for me!!! You will not be sorry you got this book. It is a must have for any library, whether book library or audible library. I have it in both places!!! This book is full of intrigue, it's fast paced, and emotional. Imagine you,1 other person and a dog, alone, crashed on the side of a mountain in the wilderness with no one around, injured and hungry, scared and alone, lost in a vast wilderness refuge and and no one even knows you are gone.......No One Knows You ARE awesome book of determination, grit and survival. Hope you don't miss this one!!!

  • The Help

    • UNABRIDGED (18 hrs and 19 mins)
    • By Kathryn Stockett
    • Narrated By Jenna Lamia, Bahni Turpin, Octavia Spencer, and others
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

    "What an AWESOME book!!!!"

This book was like no other book that I've ever read. I almost did not get it because of the cover. ( I am a cover person) The old saying, "don't judge a book by it's cover" surely stands true for this book. (but reviews were great) I read half of it and then bought the audible version to listen to while I work . I must say that I enjoyed listening better than reading because of the different voices. I was a small child during this period of time and do not remember it, we did not have a maid and did not know anyone who had a made for that matter. So, as I read each page, I was really astounded at the things that went on during that time. We were raised with no prejudice. God made us all, it's just that He made some of us with a different colored skin. I would have to say that my favorite charactor is Abilene, she is the one telling the story. And skeeter, she is the one who is writing "the book". Each of the charactors in this book have their own very unique personalities...I just loved this book. Imagine, being a black woman in the early 60's and knowing that, as one charactor said "I knew when I was a little girl that I would be cleaning and takin' care of a white family just as my grandmother and my mother did" (paraphrasing)
I learned so much and felt for each of these maids and their trials and troubles. Kathryn Stockett has done an Excellent job writing this novel. I do hope she writes more. I hope that you decide to get this book, you will not be sorry and you will want to read it again!!! The ladies that read this are really wonderful, you "feel" what they are going through as you listen, it really brings them to life. These ladies went through so much and with dignity, taking care of others families and then having to go home and take care of their own..Wow, I can't imagine what living in those times were like? If you like strong woman and controversy, then you need this book! Thank you Kathyn Stockett for writing and sharing this book with us!!
