The only reason I gave this book 2 stars is that the information is technically there, but it's very tough to get through. The author's jokes are beyond condescending. He tells them like a kindergarten teacher who never notices that the children aren't laughing. Add to that the bizarrely out of place social commentaries (such as Ronald Reagan's foreign policy decisions). It's just too much to put up with.
I don't think I've given any book 5 stars before. I listen to NPR regularly and this was a lot of new information to me. It made me really care about Anne Garrels, and now I want to follow her career until she retires.
I was very excited about the title of this book, and I was very annoyed upon hearing it. The author comes across as an arogant and self righteous college professor whose sarcasm is superior and just plain not funny. I truly wanted to hear what he had to say, but I just couldn't stomach it to get through more than an hour or so.
