If you love Agatha Cristie books, you are going to love this audio book. David Suchet has got to be one of the best narrators that I have every had the privilege to listen to. He reads the story with a sense of timing, with a different voice for each character. He has a range of emotions for each - and captures the mannerisms of each character so it feels as if you are seeing a movie. This is my third book that I have bought that Mr. Suchet narrates, and I won't stop until I have them all! Highly recommended! Well worth the money!
This was, a fantastic book. Really. Usually, I don't like the books that are too long, but this one - I wish it went on longer. The performance was spot on, the story was so interesting - historical without feeling like you were sitting in a history class, and I liked that it was a different point of view. The only thing that I didn't like, was the last too word - the end. I will be looking into other books by this author, and I hope the same person narrates it.
I grew up watching Disney movies, so I was familiar with this story, but the book is, as is often the case, so much better. The story is similar, but much more believable, and although I knew the ending, I couldn't stop listening! I enjoyed the narrator - I thought the voices he did were good, I loved the different accents that were done. The book showed the prejudices of the time / era, and I liked that - Disney took all of that away. I recommend this book.
I wanted to hear the entire speech. What I got was snippets of the speech. Not being there when the speech was delivered, this is disappointing for me because I want to know what was left out. When people edit books or speeches, you receive their point of view. I wanted the whole speech so I could make up my mind about the speech. But - I didn't pay anything for it, so I can't complain that much.
What was interesting was the history and the mood of the speeches. Very interesting
Well - the narrator was JFK - so it was good!
It was interesting for what I heard, but again - I would have preferred the entire speech.
I would and have listened to the recording. It is very enjoyable and a quick diversion during a hectic day.
I could compare it to any folktale type of book.
I am a HUGE fan of Alan Rickman, and I love the way that he narrates books. This story is read well, the different characters have different voices, but they don't sound silly, and I think it's the story itself that really appeals to me, although I have to admit, I bought it first because Mr. Rickman was narrating it.
Well worth the buy.
