"Wonderful..SEP does it again!"
Highly Recommend this funny touching account of Meg, a sassy, gutsy, success challenged young woman, who finds herself and finds Ted, a financially successful, emotionally challenged, Texas hunk. The dialog, the plot and the narrator does a wonderful job....if you listen to this you will have experienced life in Texas with all its loveable bigger than life characters. The narrator is exceptionally good as is the story! I love the fact that SEP uses familiar characters from her other stories. Now I'll have to listen to Glitter Baby and Fancy Pants again. This book is right up there with Natural Born Charmer. I'm already listening to this one a second time and I just finished it! SEP... Thank you for a wonderful vacation, please keep writing! I'm already looking forward to your next book. This one was OUTSTANDING!!!
"Great He Done Me Wrong & I WON story"
Yes. Good for anyone going thru a divorce due to a cheating husband!
Lead Character is sassy, funny and the author makes it easy to relate to her. She is sassy, snarky at times, and very "human" going through the emotional adjustment of learning she was married to a lying cheating jerk. Not only does she survive but she thrives by escaping to a lake cabin and finds herself again with the help of her attorney, an unusual friend, her gay brother and of course the sexy reclusive neighbor.
Not yet, but I plan to listen to all of them
All of the characters are developed well and most of them are likeable.
Its a good read for any woman who has endured the embarrassment of a divorce caused by a lying cheating husband.
"Intense and enjoyable"
I bought this book after listening to Sol Stein's book on writing. It is evident after listening to Other People that he employs the techniques he teaches. The narrator is difficult to understand at first and seems to clip words to make the story seem fast pace...The story is good enough to stand on its own and draws the reader despite the narrator's interpretation. It is quick paced, unpredictable enough to be interesting and quite enjoyable even though it was very graphic at times.
"Wonderful story..Happy, Sad, Touching,Satisfying"
This is the first Spark's book I have read. It lived up to his excellent reputation. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good love story.
"It deserves the wonderful comments it has received"
This story is one that I'll listen to again. The author does a beautiful job of allowing us into the minds, and spirits of the characters. The characters become friends and you won't want the story to end. The narrators do a magnificent job of portraying these characters. This book draws you into a group of people's lives encompassing and sharing their flaws and their strengths beautifully. Highly recommend....it isn't action drama...just a reminder of the way things used to be and an introduction to new friends.
"Liked it ALOT"
Just Imagine surprised me by being very entertaining. It is different than most of SEPs work, but the character development was very good and the narrator did a beautiful job. I wasn't going to download it because it was set post civil war, but I'm a fan of SEP's writing. Not sorry I purchased it. There were some surprises in it and I liked the secondary romance in this between Sephonia and Magnuss. If you are a SEP fan you won't want to miss this one!
"Slow start, but worth finishing."
There was so much "southern"dialect listening to this book I just about quit in the first 15 minutes. The first half of the book is SLOW, but by the second half (if you can tolerate the narrators depiction of a southern hair dresser) you come to like the characters. The authors tell a story about sourthern life and the people living there. It is full of "southern" sayings and cliches' but if you can overlook them you'll like the characters and will probably feel like you have known someone like them.
"Read Susan Elizabeth Philips' other books 1st"
I love SEP's books while this book was better than Glitter Baby, it wasn't one of my favorites. It is worth listening to because the character development was so good as was the narrator, but story line was kind of hokey at times. Listening to Glitter Baby first would probably make this book more enjoyable. I would recommend it if you are an SEP fan; it just isn't one of her saucy jaunts.
"It was OK"
I'm a huge SEP fan...listen to her books over and over..especially the Chicago Stars series(LOVE Natural Born Charmer). Glitter Baby was well written, but the characters were just difficult to like. Wasn't the sassy cute style of Ain't She Sweet but it is worth a listen.
"Not Rocket Science, but FUN...just what I needed!"
I was hesitant to buy this due to other reviews, but love SEP so I thought I would take a chance. SEP did a beautiful job again. The main character, an uptight and control freak meets bad boy hunk and finds a relationship that works for them..Sounds corny and that is why I waited to buy this; but, through SEPs description and wit they won a place in my heart. SEPs ability to explore/describe human frailities with humor and realistic accuracy continues to make her my favorite author and this a purely FUN BOOK!
