"Wizard has arrived!"
I read this book when I was in high school. I enjoyed it very much. Since I love to read, I kept a look out for Mr. Stasheff's books. I accidentally found this book while browsing. I liked the way a little drama was done. The time I spent listening to this book and the many, many others is time well spent. Depending what I listen too, I can relax, turn my mind off, plan things, and more.
I have lived Sci & Fantasy since I discovered them in the 6th grade. This author is one who has reenforced my decision. Fess the artificial intelligent brain disguised as a horse was my favorite character.
Fess, the artificial intelligent brain is my favorite.
Yes.
I hope to see more of this author's books audio.
"Fairy Godmothers revisited."
This story is an enjoyable twist on Fairy Godmothers helping "living happily ever after" endings.
I revisited the Hans Christian Anderson & Brothers Grimm fairy tales. I paid more attention to the Fairy Godmothers. It was fun comparing them.
I can't think of just three words. Gabra Zackman seemed a little hesitant the first few chapters.
"Unicorns rediscovered!"
A great story!
I enjoyed the music lead at each chapter. The music reflected how I felt when I read this story so long ago. It also brought back to my mind scenes from the movie. The story is as appropriate today as it was when first published.
Peter S. Beagle's voice sounded a lot like I mentally visualized the wizard's voice to sound like. I enjoyed his reading very much! I was a little reluctant at first due to having been put off by other authors reading their work.
Listen and enjoy!
"Hard Magic"
This audiobook is a little hard to rank. It starts out with several sub plots with several characters each. It is hard to figure out what is going on and with who. In the first several chapters I would rate this book less then two stars. Then all of a sudden the plot comes together. That caused me to rate this book higher @ four stars.
I have all Mr Larry Correla MONSTER HUNTER audiobooks. I enjoyed them very much. It was my previous purchase of those books which prompted me to get this book.
I enjoyed young Miss Faye (spelling?). i also enjoyed the 'bad man' in the form of J Sullivan's older brother.
The first few chapters didn't hold my attention very well. I was lucky that I was doing my walk while listening to it. I listened long enough to where all characters and sub plots came together. Then I didn't want to stop (and I didn't). I finished the book. I then re-listened to it with the purpose of hearing what I missed.
This audiobook starts slow and is a little confusing in the beginning. It makes the storyline appear weak. Then it gets into the action.
"Entertaining mosters"
Fun & interesting.
Yes I would recommend this audiobook. The only problem is that this a series that follows each other kinda close. It should follow book 01 for better understanding.
His voice fitted the main character as I imagined.
I enjoyed this book,
"Boring Dragon"
The story line sounded good. That was why I purchased this audiobook and it's sequel. There were too many characters so development was poor. As a result of too many characters there was a lot of sub plots. This led to my being confused as to what was going on. I frequently had to repeat and back track in my attempt to get thru this story and understand it. Some of the sub plots were boring I wondered what the author was tryng to write. It was difficult to figure out what was going on. The way this book was written made the subplots very incomplete. I found myself assuming things not named. There was a lot of naming of a male and female sexual parts. The reader and wording made this sound like a group of junior high boys locker room talk.
No, I wouldn't recommend this book to any one. Boring story read by a boring voice.
I don't know. I would have to read the book to think about this. I definitely wouldn't recast this reader for this book.
I really can't see any redeeming qualities.
"Wizard book 03"
I bought books one and two. i enjoyed them. Then book three came along. It seemed to be a rewrite of book 01 in the series. I replayed parts of book 01 in an attempt to figure out what was wrong. I thought that an error had been made. I thought I had book 01 under book 03's title. It took me awhile to figure out the problem. It was that book 03 was using book 01 to set the stage for book 03. As a result book 03 was a nearly identical to book 01 played for a considerable length of time. Without the replay of book 01 this book would have qualified as a long short story or a novelette or its equilent. I will continue to purchase books by this author and reader. The problem I had was that too much of book 01 in the series was used.
The way book 01 was parroted for the beginning of the book. It decreased my enjoyment of this book.
The narrator was ok. The only problem I would comment on is that his voice was a little too nice for the villain.
The characters were ok. Some seemed a little weak for what they had to do.
"Fate's Edge, the edge book 3"
I enjoyed bringing back of the 2 young teens from book 1. Writing about them with an adult from book 2 was a good combination. It has me hopeful that book 4 will be on the way.
It is a tie between the 2 brothers and Coulder.
I enjoyed all the characters.
"Burning Bridge"
I recommend this book esp to families with preteens. It shows a young person starting road to development. His hesitation, then decisions are made logically with emotions and doubt coloring decisions.
He read the narrated the story excellently. It was easy to follow the story. He added the tension at the right spots.
I did not plan on listening at one sitting but....John Keatings voice kept me listening.
This is book 2 of series. I got it first then was motivated to get books 1 & 3 which led to me getting entire series.
"Carpe Demon"
Great Fun!
I was hooked listening to 'the dead body' being hidden in the pantry while hubby made breakfast.
The dealing with death was presented well. It showed that growth development even undesired was needed. There seemed to be a 'tearful' kind of happiness with mergence of past, present and future. The narrator's voice gave this a good view.
I wish Audible had the entire series.
