I was a 'readaholic' for most of my life. I started crochet and other hobbies. That took away from my reading time. I discovered audio books at the library. That set me off. now, that I am older my eyes make it too difficult to read. So I now am a very diligent audio book listener!

Anna Moder has just witnessed a shooting, seen her car pulverized, and rescued a wounded stranger - only to discover he's really a werewolf. And by her recent standards, things are actually looking up. Lycanthropes don't faze Anna. Doctoring a wolf pack outside Grundy, Alaska, is the closest thing to home life she's known in years. But hitching a ride to Anchorage with long-absent pack member Caleb Graham - that's a risk. Part of her itches to whack his nose with a newspaper. The rest is trying unsuccessfully to keep her own paws off every delicious inch of him.

Would you listen to How to Run with a Naked Werewolf again? Why?

Yes, I will (have) listen to this again. It is well written and touches on a sensitive subject with humor and insight.

What was one of the most memorable moments of How to Run with a Naked Werewolf?

When main character talks to werewolf as if he were abusive husband, and realizes later that she did just that.

Have you listened to any of Amanda Ronconi’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to her performances only with Molly Harper's novels. I've enjoyed them all.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I did listen to in one sitting.

Alice Clark, a Wyr and schoolteacher, has had two friends murdered in as many days, and she's just found the body of a third. She arrives at the scene only minutes before Gideon Riehl, a wolf Wyr and current detective in the Wyr Division of Violent Crime - and, as Alice oh-so-inconveniently recognizes at first sight, her mate. But the sudden connection Riehl and Alice feel is complicated when the murders are linked to a serial killer who last struck seven years ago, killing seven people in seven days. They have just one night before the killer strikes again. And every sign points to Alice as the next victim.

What disappointed you about Divine Tarot?

The narration put me too sleep literally. Sophie Eastlake's voice would be better off narrating romance books. The characters are weak. The plots fail to make the grade. I listened to this twice. I forced myself to stay awake the second time. My main question is 'what happened to plot and character development?'

What do you think your next listen will be?

I am an avid audio book listener. I have no set pattern on future purchases. I can however guarantee that Thea Harrison will not be one of them.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Sophie Eastlake's voice was too bland and monotone for this type of work. She put me too sleep literally and I wasn't even sleepy. My mind kept wandering during this work. The first story ended with me forcing myself to stay away. My response was thank goodness its over. The second story reading was worse then the first.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    No

    Any additional comments?

I don't have any of Thea Harrison's novels. My habit is to listen again to an unfamiliar author's work before further purchases. That policy keeps me from making repeat mistakes. This work will definitely keep me more purchases of her works. I am hesitant about getting further works by Sophie Easlake.

I read Gulliver's Travels a very long time ago. That memory prompted me to make this purchase. The narration was excellent. I found that my memory of the story had been distorted not only by time but by viewing the many versions of it. It was great to rediscover the original. I had great fun with it.

Agent Franks of the U.S. Monster Control Bureau is a man of many parts - parts from other people, that is. Franks is nearly seven feet tall and all muscle. He's nearly indestructible. Plus he’s animated by a powerful alchemical substance and inhabited by a super-intelligent spirit more ancient than humanity itself. Good thing he’s on our side. More or less.

I enjoyed this audiobook. It was fun to finally find out what Frank is. The foundation is set to explain who Frank becomes in future novels. I have two complaints. (1)Monster Hunter Nemesis is a little hard to follow. There is too much jumping from one topic to another. At times it seemed like a series of short stories or novellas loosely tied together. (2) Oliver Wyman wasn't consistent in his reading. He changed how he was reading character voices. I had to repeat listen often because I'd think he was doing one character but in fact it was someone different.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Compared to the earlier novels with main character, this book would have been better off not being written. It seemed to have difficulty to staying focused. The reader tended to stay in a monotone much of the time. The main character seemed too weak to carry the story. The supporting character was definitely too weak for her part. Another character in the story didn't seem to fit the story. It was like she was there as filler.

Has Wicked Appetite turned you off from other books in this genre?

NO, DEFINITELY NOT. I have many books with that I have enjoyed. I have many books in this genre. Most I enjoy, a few I haven't decided and even fewer where my reaction was negative.

What three words best describe Lorelei King’s performance?

Not her best effort. For some reason Lorelei King's narration seemed flat. Her reading wasn't as good as her reading of other Evanovich books with the main character. I have many other books with her as reader that I enjoyed a lot. Her listed as reader is often a positive factor when I am picking out audio books.

Do you think Wicked Appetite needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Only if the plot can be improved.

    Any additional comments?

For the price even as an Audible.com member is too high for such a poor plot and story. It is unfortunate because I enjoy most of Janet Evanovich's books and Lorelei King narrations.

Would you try another book from Debra Dunbar and/or Angela Rysk?

I will definitely try another book by reader Angela Rysk. She did an excellent job. I'm not certain if I will try another book by the author. The story wasn't clear in the world she made. A bit more time should have been spent with this aspect. This is what spoiled the book for me.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    The ending was as expected.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed all the scenes when the leading 'lady' would start baiting, teasing or other things to the other characters. These scenes held my attention and made the book enjoyable.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I have trouble seeing how this particular book could be a movie. The story doesn't lend itself well for a movie. There are subplots along with the main one.

    Any additional comments?

I wish the author could have spent a little more time with the main aspect of her world. Not understanding this made the book less enjoyable for me. That is why I rated the story so low. The reader did an excellent job giving 'life' to the main character. This is the saving of this novel.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I was disappointed with this book. It didn't hold up. The main characters & story line go along at a good clip. Then suddenly comes an old stand by with a mysterious family member showing up out of the blue to help save the day. There are no hints to this person showing up. The main character's ability to sense mental energy is touted from book 1. That this mysterious person shows up, is a 'family' member with a totally simplistic view of life and goals is annoying. I got the feeling as in book 3 of this series the author is trying to fill pages, not write a novel. The ending of this book would have fit book 3 better. Do away with Book 3's ending and the remainder of book 4 or make them a series of short stories.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I listen to a variety of things, sci fi, horror, mystery, urban fantasy and so on. There is no way to predict what I will listen too next.

What does Nick Podehl bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He characterises the main character well from book 1. I enjoyed his reading. His reading helped bring out things about the main character that I wouldn't thought about with reading alone.

Was Bastion worth the listening time?

The book was good until the halfway point. There it started to struggle to stay together. The last 1/3 of the book was a big disappointment. Nick Podehl's reading of the book is what kept me listening till the ending.

I enjoyed this book very much. The plot was was good. My only complaint is that this reader's voice didn't show any type of voice change for the flashbacks. I had several listen overs. I came the the conclusion twice that the download from audible.com to computer or computer to iPod got messed up. Due to the number & variety of flashbacks used to explain character's background & such I would suggest a brief music score to differentiate them.

Would you listen to Magic Rises again? Why?

Yes, I am listening to it again now. There are all elements that make a story good plus the introduction of new characters to the mix, showing change tho the old and so on.

What about Renee Raudman’s performance did you like?

She continues to give a good preformance for the main characters. Her voice reflects action going on. The author has continued with her characters development & she does it smoothly. There are vague references to the other books her voice stimulates curiosity about them without interrupting the current story. She continues to reflect character interaction smoothly.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were parts of the story that made me very sad. Parts that led me to thinking down the wrong path as was intended. There were many parts that had me laughing. My main reaction was trying to figure out the character changes going on & where they were leading. Trying to remember the vague hints of character changes to see if they would lead any where in THIS book.

    Any additional comments?

Too many times this far down a book series the characters start to become weak or change oddly in relation to the story. The supporting characters from previous books didn't take over parts of the story to fill in space. The book also didn't start to change into a series of vaguely related short stories or a novella trying to pass off as a full novel. That DIDN'T happen in this case. This book can be read alone as very excellent reading. The references to the other books are vague. There isn't a lot of time wasted on these references. Just enough time and reference to alert you to the other books & motivate one to investigate if interested. I have discovered many series that way. I enjoyed this long book so much that I started it & didn't finish it until 18 hours later. I had to pause for errands that I couldn't put off or delay. It isn't common for a book to keep up that long at my age. I also wasn't tempted to skip ahead. This episode in our main characters ended. Now I want the next book to hurry up!
