"Good Story, Difficult Narration"
So, it's a good story but since the main character has a broken nose throughout the book- it's a tougher listen than normal. So, over all, it's certainly worth the listen. But the advice to the author is simple for any future books: for readers that actually read a book, having a broken nose is fine, but for an audible book- it's a really bad idea!
"It's a good one. Worth the listen!"
It's absolutely quintessential Clive Cussler, which, if you've gotten this far, you're in the mind to enjoy, and this will satisfy you and make you smile as you listen. A deffinite listen for Cussler fans.
"It's a very good start."
You will not be disappointed with this, albeit it could be a little more polished and you can trace its roots back to the Television scripts the author is trained on producing! Having said that, it's a little short, but still worth the listen.
"Now we're cookin'! This is the perfect guy book!"
So, when you think of plugging in and tuning out, this IS the audio book you are looking for. The narration is excellent, the story is fast-paced and make the miles slide by in the car- and it's long enough that it isn't light fluff that's over in no time...
It ranks as the quintessential audio book- spies, jet fighters, intrigue-- it's all there. You will not be disappointed- unless you're looking for love, romance and that other stuff. Enjoy!
"Weak Story, Weak Narration for a suspense novel"
This story seems almost one dimensional without sufficient character development of the important (most interesting) characters (the villan, the suspect) and ends with so many threads dangling you could feel the author rushing to the publisher to meet the deadline. Then, at times in the middle, there is such a depth of analysis and description of a peripheral character you want to scream as the details go on and on and on... Sorry, but I'm afraid I do not recommend it.
"Cussler's humor and yarn are back!"
So, if the gold standard is Dirk and Al, then you'll find that Cussler's got his groove back with this book. I have been pretty disappointed (and thus skeptical) of anything he's done lately-- but I took a chance on this book. In short, it's a good book! Who knew?! I found myself smiling as bits and pieces of Dirk and Al came back (wrapped in the male/female) lead characters). A light and frothy tale- easy to enjoy.
Fast-paced and well read!
