"Disappointingly hard to listen to…"
It is with no disrespect that I write this review, however I must be honest.
I was disappointed and literally rechecked the download several times to make sure I had the right book. This book is not read like an active participant, but more like a third party and the narrator’s voice almost put me to sleep, so much so that I found the story hard to follow and could only listen in short increments.
I like the series so this is hard to write, but I’ve checked ahead and it seems this reading is a rarity and the next downloadable book is back to the style that sold me on the series.
"I WANT MORE!"
This book seemed a little rushed at the end and left me with questions with no one to ask for the answers. With that said, it was a good end to the series even with its "happier ever after" style ending, though I'm sad to see the series end.
"The series has not disapointed."
I have been a fan of Jim Butchers for some time, but I can’t believe how involved I have become in this series. I find myself downloading the next book in the series before I finish the one I’m on because I don’t want a break in the drama.
The best part about this series is it is not just action, its intrigue and strategy like a continuing chess match. And the seamless transfer between characters timelines is impressive.
"It has me interested..."
I was not sure about this book when I first started it as I had the feeling that I came in to the middle of a conversation already started. With that said, I quickly became engrossed in this story and by the middle I found myself looking for opportunities to hurry and put my earplugs in to catch a few more minutes of the story whenever I could. It took me less than 3 hours after I finished this book to purchase the next one.
Hope it continues to hold up.
"Great Introduction Novel!"
Warning, this book is not for the faint of heart when it comes to “adult language and situations” but then again it was not meant to be. It has a small taste of teenage vampire fantasy but it is all grown-up, in a good way. The sexual tension between the main characters tends to leave you wanting more, just like it should and the trill of the hunt in the action is good as well. Tavia is still feeling the character out in this 1st book, but she quickly becomes one with her and brings her to vivid life. All in all, if you love good suspenseful action and a strong and sexy kickass heroine, well it’s a GREAT start to an even better series.
"Good Book 1..."
This is a good book 1, but there better be a next book! This one leaves you with that oh-so familiar feeling of incompleteness at the end like a good series should. So for the authors sake I hope he doesn't leave us hanging for too long.
And for those like me that got sceptical from the title, don't worry it's not about religion, well it's not preaching religion anyway.
