In the second decade of the 21st century, the world is struck by two catastrophes: a new mini-ice age and a plague to dwarf all previous experiences. Rising out of the disaster is the character known to history as "Bandit Six", an American Army officer caught up in the struggle to rebuild the world and prevent the fall of his homeland - despite the best efforts of politicians, both elected and military.

I don't usually write reviews for books, but I was so disappointed with this book that I had to write something. I got through about the first 3 hours, which was basically a rant about the evils of liberal ideals. It was written like a journal and had little to no story line. I have always enjoyed this authors books in the past and that makes this even more disappointing.

But in their path wait the armed might of the Ehleenee and an enemy even more treacherous - the Witchmen, pre-Holocaust scientists who have survived the centuries by stealing other men's bodies to house their evil minds and who have in their hidden stronghold the means of destroying all who will not become their willing slaves.

What would have made The Coming of the Horseclans better?

If you have a book with a number of Spanish names and language, find a narrator that can do an adequate job or don't try. I couldn't get all the way through the book listening to the narrator use a stereotyped Spanish accent in the 1st few chapters

Would you be willing to try another book from Robert Adams? Why or why not?

I love Robert Adams, but not with this narration. I read the horse clan series as a boy and loved them all

How did the narrator detract from the book?

    see above

What character would you cut from The Coming of the Horseclans?

    none

Six weeks ago, the mysterious virus came out of nowhere and engulfed the world. Everyone infected seemed to die...then rise again. Jeff Blaine did his best to hold his family together and to protect them from the horrors scratching at their door, but in the end, they were ripped away from him like everything else that ever mattered. Lost and alone, Jeff decided his only option was to destroy as many of the monsters that stole his life away before they destroy him as well.

Where does Into the Dark rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

That is a tough question, I listened to alot of books. I like the series and will get the next book as soon as I can

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like Jeff, he is a reluctant leader that makes me think about issues of responsibility and consequences

What does Jim Cooper bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He does well, differentiating between voices and emotions

    Any additional comments?

Great storyline and the author puts characters in realistic situations. The story is fast paced and seems like a much shorter book

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, this was not a very good book or performance

What was most disappointing about Robin Cook’s story?

The story line seemed to be a setup for a statement about medical research and business. I don't usually mind a little political bias in books, but there was far too many details that made a statement without contributing to the story. The epilogue was particularly transparent. I get these books because I enjoy medical thrillers, not to hear what the authors feelings are about patenting medical procedures and techniques, although I do agree with the statement, this wasn't the place I wanted to see it.
I feel like there were several elements of the story that were left out to make room for the non-related details-The nanny was killed and that was it-the orphaned child that was to be Ben's responsibility, Danny, and several others were just left hanging.

What didn’t you like about George Guidall’s performance?

The narrators cadence was extremely distracting.

Could you see Cure being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    no

    Any additional comments?

    very disappointed

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I am not sure, they would have to really like this type of thing

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

It took so long to get to the meat of the story and I am still not sure what the point was. The characters were very well developed but, the story was a little thin.

What aspect of Michael Fenton-Stevens’s performance would you have changed?

    nothing

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    probably not

The race is on to claim the area between the Ohio River and Tennessee. What's left of the resistance is hiding out in the tangle of central Kentucky hills - leaving the powerful, well-organized Kurian vampires the opportunity to fill the void. Major David Valentine knows there's only one way for them to find help before the Kurians settle in: a desperate dash by hijacked rail, followed by a harrowing river journey. Valentine unites friends old and new in the effort - but the Kurian Order won't easily yield.

What did you love best about March in Country?

I have read few series that allows a character to grow the way Val does in this series. The series moves Val through distinct stages of development as a man during a time of constant war.
I also really enjoy how the author weaves in details of parts of the US that I have lived in, which adds another layer of interest. Listening to the author describe the south, northwest and the midwest brings a new perception of the places that I am living or have lived

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character is Val, but Val and Ahn-Kha have a great storyline that keeps me into the storyline. The relationship is about loyalty and friendship not unlike Frodo and Samwise, but more mature and cynical.

What does Christian Rummel and E. E. Knight (introduction) bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator does a great job with the voices and accents. It helps keeps the characters straight and adds a nuance to the story
