Naked was way too short of a book, but it did grab your attention. I felt like All In made Ethan seem like an obsessed stalker, the whole book was Ethan constantly wanting Brynne and having sex really not much plot till the end, by the conclusion of All In I had everything already predicted for Eyes Wide Open so I wasn't surprised at all in this book. The series has two narrators which for the most part works, but I really disliked Shane East's American female accent ( Brynne's voice )...I thought it was completely terrible.
The story is actually one of self-blooming and becoming your true self. Nicola an art dealer in London she has a psychic gift where she gets visions by touching objects. Nicola was groomed growing up by her grandfather to never reveal her gift to anyone. One day a woman comes in with a priceless carved Firebird with a tale that it was given to her ancestor by Catherine the Great. Nicola knows this to be true by touching the object but nor the woman or Nicola can prove the worth of the Firebird. Nicola decides to go on a mission to find the proof needed to validate the worth of the Firebird, with such self doubt on her own skills, Nicola seeks the help of another psychic her ex-boyfriend Rob. Then Nicola's journey begins. The book is a gem. The narrator is awesome she pulls off male / female, British, Scottish, Irish and Russian accents and she even sings when the characters do...bravo! very credit worthy.
I LOVED IT! I like to dapple in YA books and I was pleasantly surprise to come across this gem of a story ( I couldn't help the pun ). Great paranormal mystery, across between time travelers wife and Harry Potter. Gwen at 16 finds herself blinking back to the past, gift with the time travel gene she hurtled into life of mysterious secret society where she is cautioned not to trust anyone, not even her own feeling. Buy all 3 at once because this is a non-stop listen.
It's 1850's steam punk teenage Indiana Jones. I love it, unpolished 14 year girl gets recruited to a secret spy "finishing school" to learn etiquette and espionage. Very fun and enjoyable listen. Definitely getting the next one.
I don't know why the author chose to be complete Debbie-Downer for the entire 15hours of this book. Daughter of Smoke of Bone was awesome Karou was blue haired spit fire that stood up to everyone including powerful angels. In this book she is completely desolate, weak, she has enslaved herself to her race and just completely relinquishes her power to others and forsaken her one true love. Sure people can become depressed when they feel betrayed, but Karou is completely self-destructive and doesn't snap out of it to fight back throughout the entire book. I know I'm not keen on listening to "Woe, is me..." for 15 hours, no thank you! I hope the author does an about-face for the next book, because I want the fighting confident spit fire back, enough with the Sorry-Sally story a person can only take so much negativity.
I liked this book the least out of the series, it's like paging Dr.Phil lets get all of our feeling out in the open. The book is about 90% the couple's incompatible issues and the last 10% and the end of the book is actually some action and danger. Even when Shaya was in immediate danger she goes off into like a 5 page internal monologue about her own trust issues, it really wasn't a good time to go off in a self-reflection moment. I was just kinda bummed and disappointed, I hope the next one is a lot better then this one.
I admit it was slow to start in the first book but it picks up into a sprint in book 3 and keeps on going! I really hope more books are coming out, a lot of unanswered question with all the sub-characters. If you're not into vampire books don't worry that really isn't a main issue in the books, you barely think of anyone as a vampire, but just people. It's just mysterious like Harry Potter, but a bit more grown-up and instead of wizards they're vampires. I completely love Rose Hathaway, she is a smart mouth teen / super hero, I could bask in her awesomeness! This series is definitely credit worthy!
Lunar chronicles is such a fantastic series and the next installment Cress doesn't disappoint. In this installment we have Cress (aka Rapunzel) joining the band of misfit princess'. Cress is a Lunar Shell that has been imprisoned on a satellite orbiting the earth for the last 7 years forced to operate as the queen's personal programmer/ hacker. Cinder attempts a rescue mission to spring Cress free when everything hits the preverbal fan. The whole group of outlaws must find away to regroup and stop the royal wedding between Queen Lavanna and Emperor Kia. I absolutely love the new futuristic spin on the classic princess fairy tales, the best spin of all is the damsel in distress princess' turning into kick-butt hero's and I love it! I hope "snow white" will be joining to gang in the next installment, which I am eagerly waiting for. Very credit worthy all the way.
I was expecting more. I thought part 3 would have more action in it, like Natalie being in danger with other mafia clans because she's a mob heiress, ect. The conclusion to the book is all about Natalie and Sevastyan working on their kinky relationship mishaps. Don't get me wrong its still a good story awesome steamy scenes and if you're a KC fan, you're listening to it anyways, but you might be a little bit disappointed. I only gave it 4 stars because it was only about Natalie trying to fix Sevastyan about being emotionally unavailable to her. I would have loved some action, to see " The Siberian" at work to protect what is his.
Night Huntress never disappoints! and so the action pack tale continues. More plot twist and action, I hope there are more coming out cause there was a big bomb dropped on this one! so exciting, eagerly waiting more books!
I liked this one the best in the series, The ruler of an alien planet of huge buff life forms fall for a little human woman, but the twist is she literally has to fight for him, and I love it. Can't wait for the next one!
