"Not Up To Expectations"
Having read all the Women's Murder Club book series, this one was a huge disappointment. The story lines were not believable at all. The personal relationship's were way out of the realm of reality, and the "murder weapon" made it impossible for me to even listen as I have a strong aversion to that item. Don't want to ruin the plot for others so I am being vague, but it is not worth the time. Additionally the narrator sounded the same regardless of which character she was representing. Half the time I did not know who was saying what to who. If this is the best they have left, its time to end the series. Sorry, just bad writing
"I Found Narration To Be Awful!!"
A different narrator would have been a huge improvement for me
I never miss a Connelly novel, I can't quite decide if I just disliked the story line or was negatively influenced by the reader
I found Mr Carious's performance to be so annoying that it was difficult for me to get through this book. His voice reminded me of how a song playing on the radio sounds when you are not quite on the station, raspy and static
"Get Rid of the Female Narrator"
Love everything Baldacci, and especially King and Maxwell. But, what was a good story line was made bad by the Maxwell narrator, she was annoying and made this book a difficult listen.
"Great Listen"
I had no knowledge of this author, and bought the book based on others reviews. Turned out to be one of the best I have read/listened to in months. A little campy, and a little predictable, but those of us who read spy thrillers should never complain about a plot being totally unbelievable, thats why they are sold as fiction.I would recommend this one highly.
"A Bit Too Technical"
Love Tom Clancy, and have always been a big Jack Ryan fan, I did enjoy the book. That being said, it got a bit long winded on several occasions where the technical details were described. I had a problem keeping up with all the characters, their locations and their relevance to the overall plot. Lou Diamond Phillips did a excellent job, especially considering all the different accents. Not sure Jack Jr is cut out to follow in his fathers footsteps, considering the number of times he nearly got him self blown away!! I have seen from other reviews that some readers had issues with Clancy's politics, but I think the reader usually knows what to expect from him in that arena, he has had the same adgenda since Cardinal Of the Kermlin and Hunt For Red October, I personally take no issue with his writing in that respect. Overall a good listen, and left lots of room for a good sequel
"Not My Favorite"
Love DeMille, read all his books, this one left me a bit disappointed. Too many superfluous characters, time line really hard to follow. Story line was totally not believable. Only thing that saved the book was the amazing read by Scott Brick.
"Absolutely Awful"
This is the first time I have ever stopped listening to a book. A little more than half way through I finally gave up on any chance of there being an improvement to the storyline and just Quit!
"In The Eye Of The Beholder"
I have read Dan Browns other two books and loved them, but held off on this one due to reviews. I was not disappointed in this book, it was excellent, but as the old saying goes "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I think ones appreciation for Dan Brown's books is strongly connected to their personal spiritual beliefs. His theory's are controversial and you either love his interpretations or not, although "fiction" his books do hit a nerve in a lot of people. I think he is brilliant, and this book was did not disappoint me. A little long winded and repetitive, but still "spot on" for me.
"Great Book, Excellent Reader But Just Stopped?"
I really enjoyed this book, found it to be much more than I expected. The reader was perfect for this story, she was able to make each character sound different and immediately identifiable. My only problem with the story, was the way it ended, I mean it just ended, huge buildup to final chapter, and then it was over, left me feeling like the author suddenly had something else to do, or maybe his doorbell rang, so just decided to finish in two sentences?? Really annoying
"Not My Favorite Mitch Rapp Story"
This one was not as good as I expected from Flynn, I love the Mitch Rapp character, but this book was not up to the usual standards. I know fiction takes liberties, but this was a bit too far fetched. Worth the credit if you are a Flynn/Rapp fan, but it might be time to send Mitch into retirement, maybe one more book left, find him a new wife and let the guy enjoy his old age.
"Long But Worth The Time"
DeMille has a talent of making me laugh even in the most outrageous circumstances. This was a very different setting than the typical DeMille books, but I found it to be very informative and entertaining. No matter what the subject matter, his dry humor and wit make his books interesting plus this one adds a history lesson. A little long and rambling in some spots, but easy to overlook if you just enjoy the story rather than analyze the circumstances behind it.
