This is such a fun and enjoyable listen. The story is as crazy as you would expect from A. Lee Martinez. The characters are so off the wall you can't help but love them. The book would not be nearly as much fun without the wonderful narration. The different voices are what really sets this book apart. As previously noted, if you don't enjoy imaginative narration then you won't enjoy this.

I absolutely loved this book! It's fresh and funny and written in a Southern vernacular that the narrator hits perfectly. The story is just complicated enough to keep you interested.

I thought I was getting a nice cozy mystery. Imagine someone breaking into houses and redecorating them. Sounds like a hoot.
What I got was a whiny, boring piece of Christian fiction that takes a long time to end. The main character is a Christian writer who can't seem to get on the bestseller list and whines about it all through the book. She also has her mother inlaw and daughter, both widows, like herself living with her. This has so many possibilities but sadly went nowhere. Plus, more whining. The mystery wasn't even mentioned till the third chapter or so. And not a lot after that. I didn't really want to finish the book, but I did want to find out who was behind the break ins. Sadly, even the ending was pretty senseless.
This book is about this woman and her problems and how everything happens for a reason and how God has a plan...and that's it. If you are looking for a good mystery then skip this.

I must repectfully disagree with the other reviewers. I found the concept and story outstanding! The back and forth between the two authors was fresh and funny. Their reactions to each others chapters were some of the funniest things in the book. The concept of two authors taking turns writing chapters is awesome. I love the way the story changes depending on which one wrote the chapter. I looked like an idiot while grocery shopping because I was laughing so hard! The narration was perfect. If you only like traditional mysteries then skip this, If you want something new new and different try it. I hope this is only the beginning!!

I really enjoyed the storyline and this could be the start of a great series. Having said that, I have to admit that I was eager for it to end. It was just too wordy. It seemed that the author used every obscure adjective available that could or would describe any given thing or situation. I found myself becoming irritated at sentences that were twice as long as they needed to be. I'm no english major, but I do know that sometimes less is better. I was also confused by the use of both American and British slang. It was difficult to decide where the story took place. The characters are well thought out and there is a lot of depth to them. Lots of room to develop backstories and it leaves you wanting to know what happens next. Watson Heintz does a wonderful job on the narration. She is truly talented. Looking forward to a second book. I may go for a print version if it has as many extra words as this one. You can't skim over an audiobook.

I wish I had read the other reviews. I just bought all of these books after listening to the first one because I liked it so much. After a little over an hour I have had enough. If this narrator had done the other books it would have been okay. If she had listened to one of the other books before performing this one it might have been okay...but I don't want to listen to the rest of this...not 15 more hours of mispronounced words and strange grating voices. I am going to get the print edition of this book and read it tomorrow. Then I can move on to the next audiobook in the series....
