"Will appeal to those who like Allie Beckstrom"
This book is good fun and will appeal to thos who like the Allie Beckstrom series by Devon Monk.
"Great narration let down by disappointing story"
I'd read good reviews of this book before I decided to purchase the audio version. I'm sorry to say I was sorely disappointed. The narrator does a good job, but the book is let down by a silly story line and a thoroughly dislikable male lead. Far from being strong sexy and enticing, the lead comes across as cruel, perpetually snarling and emotionally stunted. The female lead is in a situation that allows her few options to make autonomous decisions, and on the whole is at the mercy of a bunch of men who do not have her best interests at heart. The way she is treated throughout is demeaning and 'the' sex scene didn't do anything to change my perception of that. I couldn't bring myself to finish this.
"Great book well performed. Thoroughly entertaining"
A romantic story with engaging characters. The reading is terrific and the reader well suited to the story. I was thoroughly enterained.
"Badly let down by performance"
The reader is appalling. The female lead's voice and intonation are often read to sound like a parody and the male lead is not much better. The fake accent is terrible. The experience of this book was totally ruined by the reading.
No. The reading is torturous.
Have the book read by someone with some actual skills, not a ham.
"Hamy narrator kills the buzz"
I'm not sure whether this book, the 4th in Larissa Ione's Demonica series, is worse than the others, or if it was the narrator of this audio version that killed the buzz for me. I really enjoyed the audio versions of the previous three books, especially Renée Raudman's reading of Passion Unleashed. But Paul Boehmer's interpretation of this book is soo hamy and over the top that it's hard to focus on the content and enjoy it. If you're interested in Ecstasy Unveiled I recommend you buy the book and forego the audio version in this instance.
"Narrator trouble"
Loved the book. The narrator doesn't do such a great job though. The male voices are very unconvincing and Sully's accent and intonation are grating. Still, enjoyed it.
