I've listened to recorded books for years, and usually download mysteries and thrillers. Whenever I ventured into something a little "deeper", I find I lose concentration since I am doing something else, such as driving, walking the dogs. I was skeptical of this one, but the reviews got me to try it. And I'm glad I did. Beautifully written and narrated, a great story in a setting that I knew little about, you should definitely try this one. I've already downloaded the sequel.
Exciting from beginning to end. Well narrated, easy to get into. A couple of the characters are somewhat unbelievable, but still a good listen. Reminds me a little of the early Ken Follet novels, which got me hooked on Books-on-Tape many years ago.
I think this author has been going downhill since his first and best, Absolute Power. Not a bad listen, but no sympathetic characters, a contrived plot, and I found it quite a stretch to believe that two people could shoot at each other at the exact same time so that their bullets collide! By the end I didn't really care who the villain was. This is OK if you can't find anything else to listen to, but there are better choices.
I've listened to a few of Connelly's audiobooks and found them entertaining. I enjoyed Closers the most, and this one is almost as good. I rate audiobooks by how well they hold my attention as I'm usually doing something else while listening (driving, walking the dogs, vacuuming). This one is well written and read, and I was engrossed all the way to the end.
This audiobook grabbed me right from the start, and held my attention all the way to the end. I agree with others about the ending, but still a very entertaining listen. I was turned off to King listening to Dreamcatchers, which started out great and then started to drone, so I was a little hesitant about selecting Cell. I've listened to many books, and rate this one a 5 because I was totally engrossed right to the (cop-out)ending.
Excellent writer and reader. I've enjoyed all of Demille's books on Audible. Although somewhat predictable, it is a worthy listen. Captures your attention right away. John Corey is always an interesting character. If you enjoy thrillers, you should try this one.
For such a highly rated book, I was disapointed. I prefer stories that I can get right into. This one lagged. I could see (hear) that the story might get interesting if I kept listening, but I just didn't have the patience and I found my mind wandering.
