this book is like one long whine!!! I just wanted to scream "Get A Life!". It was actually painful to hear and I would imagine just as painful to read. We read it for my book group and one other woman said no one should ever have to read this book. I think it holds the top spot as the all time WORST book I have ever read/listened to.
Probably not but that doesn't say much. I don't listen to books twice. There are just too many great ones out there to listen to. What I do instead is listen to other books by the same author and I have listened to ALL of Kate Morton's books.
I love the way that Kate Morton plays with time in her books. The Maisie Dobbs series is similar in both that aspect as well as the well told mystery.
She narrates so well and seems to be able to protray even the slightest nuance of character.
Yes, if only I had the time!
Another fabulous book by Kate Morton. She is becoming one of my all time favorites.
I kept waiting for something to happen...for some "purpose" in this book and never found one. I kept waiting for that one character that I could connect too. Again, I never found one.
I don't think so.
There was no animation in the voice. At first I thought it was just in his portrayal of Talmadge but eventually I figured out that it was all of them.
Yes, some of the descriptions were incredible. I could visualize perfectly and some were almost poetic.
I am not sure I would have finished this book if it hadn't been my book group pick. I couldn't wait for it to be done.
The outstanding narration of this book is what drew me in and the story held me there. Well done!
There is nothing that irritates me more than a poorly edited narration. When the narrator corrected herself a few times at the beginning of the book, I almost quit. I am glad I didn't. This was a lovely story of acceptance and judgement and all kinds of relationships. I am glad I hung in there.
If you bought a book and there were pages in the wrong place or if there were places where the text was crossed out and correncted you would be appauled. This is the case wiht this recording. There are places where the book is not read in order and the narrator corrects herself many times. I enjoyed the book but am angry that the recording was released in the form.
I cried, I laughed out loud and I even re-wound the book to write down spots of wisdom. I loved it and the narration was incredible. I didn't want it to end. The characters felt like family by the end of the book. Loved it, loved it, loved it!! I am already looking forward to her next book...and I am not even sure she is writing one yet.
