Would you try another book from Elizabeth Hoyt and/or Emma Taylor?

No - I'll never buy another book narrated by Emma Taylor. She's terrible.

What did you like best about this story?

I didn't enjoy the story very much at all because the narration was so bad. I've still got 4 hrs to go and I'm looking into the buying the book on my Nook to finish it. I'm just not sure I can suffer through 4 more hours.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Emma Taylor?

Ashford McNab, Rosalyn Landor, Helen Stern, Rebecca DeLeeuw, Anne Flosnik

Was Lord of Darkness worth the listening time?

Not really. I seriously doubt that I ever listen to this book again. That's unfortunate because I've listened to the other books in this series several times each. I've thought about returning this book, but I guess I'll keep it.

    Any additional comments?

I'm not sure that I like the fact that more and more people are aware of who the Ghost of St. Giles really are. There are just too many people who know now. That makes it unrealistic for me. How can that many people keep this kind of secret?

Prodigal Summer weaves together three stories of human love within a larger tapestry of lives in southern Appalachia. At the heart of these intertwined narratives is a den of coyotes that have recently migrated into the region. Deanna Wolfe, a reclusive wildlife biologist, watches them from an isolated mountain cabin where she is caught off-guard by Eddie Bondo, a young hunter who comes to invade her most private spaces and her solitary life.

What did you love best about Prodigal Summer?

I loved the three ongoing stories and I loved Garnet. What a prude.

What about Barbara Kingsolver’s performance did you like?

I thought Ms. Kingsolver did a great job with the narration. I really enjoyed her inflection and her southern accent.

    Any additional comments?

I have to say that I was hoping for a different ending. Each story line wrapped up - sort of - but not completely. I almost feel like Ms. Kingslover needed to just finish the book and I thought it could have gone on a little longer and wrapped up a little better.

This book is not for everyone. You need an appreciation of nature. Ms. Kingslover had to do an incredible amount of research to write this book. I learned a lot. I really enjoyed this book and I'm sure I'll listen to it again.

In October of 1806, the Little Season is in full swing, and Sally Fitzhugh has had enough of the endless parties and balls. With a rampant vampire craze sparked by the novel The Convent of Orsino, it seems no one can speak of anything else. But when Sally hears a rumor that the reclusive Duke of Belliston is an actual vampire, she cannot resist the challenge of proving such nonsense false. At a ball in Belliston Square, she ventures across the gardens and encounters the mysterious Duke.

I really enjoyed this book and I love Sally and Lucien, but I missed Ms. Gwen and Jane. I know that Ms. Gwen was included in the book, but her role was minimal. I actually think that I liked Eloise's and Collin's story the best. I can't wait to see what happens with them in the next book.

I really do love the Pink Carnation series. Lauren Willig is such a talented writer. She can take you back in time 200 plus years or 10 years and make you feel like you are right there with the characters. I enjoy her books so much!

Kate Reading's narration is PERFECT - PERFECT!!!! She switches between an American accent and British accent without any problems and makes every single character believable and brings them to life.

The combination of Ms. Willig and Ms. Reading is spot on!

Lights! Camera! Murder! Trinket and the gang, beware! Hollywood descends on Holly Springs, and soon it’s up to the Divas to keep the stars from falling like magnolia blooms in a trailer-park tornado. Someone doesn’t want dark secrets under the holly to reach the big screen. He - or she - is willing to kill locals, movie stars, and maybe even Divas to stop it. Diva-sister Dixie Lee Forsythe wrote the juicy tell-all about a Mississippi town very much like Holly Springs, and a lot of townsfolk would be happy to strangle her.

I have listened to all of the Dixie Diva books and although these may not be the most scientific or have real life consequences, I am in love with these characters. I feel like I know all of them personally and I want to be a Dixie Diva. Being a southerner myself I can completely relate to a lot of the southern sayings and opinions/thoughts. Some are just so funny, but you may have to be a southerner to "get" them.

Trinket and Bitty are my favorites. I love their squabbles and I think that Karen Commings has brought these characters to life. Sometimes I laugh out at their antics.

Karen has ensured consistency of the characters between all of the books and that makes it very easy to flow from one book to the next.

I don't think these books would be a great "read", but I can tell you that they are a FANTASTIC "listen." I love them!

I really enjoyed this series and I thought this was a great story to end with. The story was believable even though it had a bit of a historical mystical tale. The characters were very well developed, but you need to listen to the first two books in the series before listening to this final book. It is a very good series, but I wouldn't recommend the books as standalone books.

The narrator is one of my all time favorites. She's fantastic.

Great series and a great story. Well worth the credit.

Eveline Armstrong is fiercely loved and protected by her powerful clan, but outsiders consider her "touched." Beautiful, fey, with a level, intent gaze, she doesn't speak. No one, not even her family, knows that she cannot hear. Content with her life of seclusion, Eveline has taught herself to read lips and allows the outside world to view her as daft. But when an arranged marriage into a rival clan makes Graeme Montgomery her husband, Eveline accepts her duty -unprepared for the delights to come.

Maya Banks delivered!!!! The story was very good and it provides the set up for a very good series. I like that Evaline was hearing impaired although her ability to speak was one of the hardest things to believe due to the fact that this book is narrated. The narrator cannot really speak like a deaf person who hasn't spoken in three years, but regardless, she did a great job.

Very good and would highly recommend.

Maya Banks always delivers a solid historical Scottish romance. I am always confident that I'll enjoy her story and really like her characters. Now I'm stuck waiting on the next book in the series.

The narrator was very good. She has narrated the other Scottish romance novels for Maya Banks and like Maya, she always delivers.

Good use of credit!!!! Can't wait for the next book.

    Story

I had such high hopes for the next book in this series and although the storyline was very promising, there were too many unexplained issues. There is no mention of how or why Temple was presumed to be the "Killer Duke" when there was a lot of blood, but no body. There is nothing at all mentioned about what or how he would have disposed of the body. No rumors of throwing it off a cliff with him staggering back to her bed chamber or chopping it up (I know that's gruesome) - nothing. This book doesn't address the "body" in one sentence which just doesn't make sense. I would have expected to see that the ton rumored that he did something with the body - but there was nothing.

Also, what happened to Temple's fathers previous 3 wives??? Mara was to be his 4th wife. Maybe Temple's father was the real "Killer Duke" and the ton could have said that the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Something!

I also didn't understand how Mara could ask or force Temple to pay her to be with him when he really and truly held all the cards (so to speak). I listened to the paragraphs in the book where Temple and Mara discussed their bargain several times and I simply never understood how she could ask Temple to pay her or why he agreed to these outrageous terms. He could have just marched her out into society without any explanation to her or anyone else, but instead he ended up having to pay her to be with him??? Very confusing.

I would have really liked this book if these few issues could have been explained. I did like the story of him being a boxer and I liked the interactions between the two characters, but there are several issues with this book that I just cannot understand.

The tip we've received to the beginning of Chase's story sounds very intriguing. I hope Ms. McLean puts a bit more thought into Chase's story because it will be tough to pull it off and make convincing after all of the interactions between Chase and the other three scoundrels.
