  • The Hot Zone: A Terrifying True Story

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 5 mins)
    • By Richard Preston
    • Narrated By Richard M. Davidson

A highly infectious, deadly virus from the central African rain forest suddenly appears in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. There is no cure. In a few days, 90 percent of its victims are dead. A secret military SWAT team of soldiers and scientists is mobilized to stop the outbreak of this exotic "hot" virus. The Hot Zone tells this dramatic story, giving a hair-raising account of the appearance of rare and lethal viruses and their "crashes" into the human race. Shocking, frightening, and impossible to ignore, The Hot Zone proves that truth really is scarier than fiction.

aaron says: "If you love viruses and gore and non-fiction..."
"Hot Zone is great, read it today!"
What did you love best about The Hot Zone?

The descriptions of Ebola outbreaks were described in vivid detail. ...and it's true!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hot Zone?

The travels of our first victim to the hospital, and the emergency room scene when he arrives.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The combination between Preston's humor and Davidson's lively narration brings this book alive.

  • Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By Susan Cain
    • Narrated By Kathe Mazur
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

At least one-third of the people we know are introverts. They are the ones who prefer listening to speaking, reading to partying; who innovate and create but dislike self-promotion; who favor working on their own over brainstorming in teams. Although they are often labeled "quiet," it is to introverts that we owe many of the great contributions to society--from van Gogh’s sunflowers to the invention of the personal computer.

Teddy says: "Thought provoking and Uplifting.... A++++++++!!!!!"
"Quiet put me to sleep and I am introvert"
Would you try another book from Susan Cain and/or Kathe Mazur?

No, Kathe Mazur just put me to sleep. I have listened to many great audible titles and this is just not one of them.

What was most disappointing about Susan Cain???s story?

She says the same thing over and over.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Kind of monotone, very difficult to stay tuned in. The only unread book in my library and I had to stop and listen to music instead.
