I have read David Sedaris' work and this is my first experience with one of his audible titles. It is absolutly hilarious. Much more enjoyable than reading alone. The impression of his brother Paul is priceless. I laughed until I cried; literally. He is very open about his feelings as a gay man and I gained a new appreciation for some of the predicaments of his lifestyle. Great audio book. I'm planning on downloading some of his other work that I've already read to get the impressions of his siblings.
I love the stock market. I love books about people who made it from the bottom and did well in business. But sorry to say that this book is just plain depressing. Real life story of a kid from NY that got sucked into the crack rock lifestyle of chop houses and made a ton of money ripping people off. He lied and cheated everyone in his life and I still felt bad for the guy in the end. When it finally ended I just felt sad.
Great narrator, good documentary style writing and a cool interview with the author at the end. Those redeeming qualities give it 3 stars. 2 1/2 would be more acurate.
Wow! I was surprised by this one. I have been an Audible listener for over a year and have come across a few dog piles among the clover. This book is great. The author/reader is engaging and thought provoking. I listened to the book back to back just to be sure I got it all. Very motivating and full of ideas you can use in career and life starting today. I find that I am motivated more by things I can use than by fictional stories and rah-rah fluffy feel good type books. This is a good one.
Riveting plotlines, well written and exceptionally read. I have sat in my car listening prior to appointments and in my driveway at home waiting for the next twist. I love this one. I'm nearing the end of the title and plan on searching out this reader for some more. Good one, this. Fires on all cylinders.
I am a Men's Health Magazine reader and looked forward to the 12 week program on audio. Honestly, I was looking for some information and a lot of motivation. What I got was tons of information but in a format too tedious to get motivated by. When the reader started going down the list of items you should have in a kitchen I lost interest and went to the next disc. Boring. Then the next, Boring. Ad Nauseum... I may look at the print version so I can skim through, but this book is not set up for an audio format.
