Disappointing listening to the hours of flashback stories that have nothing to do with the current plot. I have no idea how a 10+ hour book only covered about 1 day in real time in the story. I kept thinking the stories would get better with each book and I kept reading them because I was invested. But don't make my mistake. Stop after the first book or don't get started at all.
Have more plot covered in the books. Don't dwell for hours talking about the main character's idiosyncrasies. Have a really robust storyline where things actually happen. I get tired of the monotony of nothing happening in the plot.
Reading performance is good. But this can't make up for a poor book.
Moving on back to tried and trusted authors ...
Would be nice if there was more story covered than just a one or two day period.
I'll probably listen to the rest. I'm already invested. I need to see how it turns out. But I have a feeling this will be a 50-book series before the conclusion of the story.
He seems to capture the craziness of certain characters. He really sounds like a psychopath when speaking as these characters. He did a great job.
Inspired to start prepping for zombies. :)
I would expect this battle-hardened special forces character to be able to handle himself a little better and not getting all banged up fighting a few zombies. He's always getting shot, breaking bones, tendons, ligaments, etc. Just go get you a sword and stop wasting ammo.
Terrific story. Well written. Great characters. Can't wait to listen to the next book.
The ideas of witches, vampires and demons are interesting. A little different take on them. Very believable.
The performance of the woman doing the reading was great.
there is obviously follow up books but I am not sure that I will continue with the series. I'm on the fence.
I am usually a little hesitant to buy books written by female authors. The only one I seemed to have liked is Anne Rice (Vampire Chronicles). The book is very well written and flows nicely and the characters are well done and well developed. You really feel as if you are right there with the characters. But, with all the demons, vampires, and witches, it would have been nice if there were just more action. Fights, etc. Maybe that is the testosterone peaking out in me. Instead, it is a very nice love story. At times, I thought I was listening to a Harlequin Romance (have never read one but I expect it would be like this book). All in all, it is the perfect book for women looking for a nice romance story to dream about their perfect prince charming.
If you are technically minded or love to know how and why things work, you will like this book. The martian in this book is definitely the McGuyver of all time.
There are highs and lows and you are really pulling for the main character as all the odds are constantly against him.
I laughed, I cried... I kissed one credit goodbye. No just kidding. It was a great book.
Sanderson has started a classic epic story that can compare to Star Wars and others. Great characters. Great story. For being so long, the book passes quickly. You will not be able to stop listening to the last 4 hours.
Kaladin. He hits highs and lows and gets broken along the way.
Yes. Even though it was so long, it passed quickly. I wish it could have been 1000 hours long.
All of Sandersons books are incredible but I think this series might be the best. He's definitely the most talented sci-fi fantasy writer that I have ever listened to. PLEASE FINISH WRITING THE NEXT BOOK IN THIS SERIES! QUICKLY!
The depth of the story and characters. You feel immersed into the story and find yourself pulling for the characters. Brandon Sanderson has to be the best sci-fi author in my opinion. All of his books are incredible and this one is no exception.
I don't know if I could compare it to other books. It has mystical magical knights similar to star wars. But overall, the story is very unique. I could see this story unfolding to more and more books.
The book is very long which is great. If I could listen to it in one sitting, I would.
Sanderson actually has provided a terrific story and a complete story all in one book. It is long so you really get your moneys worth. And the store has a good beginning, middle and end. Sanderson is unlike so many other authors that are trying to stretch a short story out to sell 5-10 separate books (ie Zombie Fallout). I can't wait to download the next book in this series (which is equally long as well)! Well done!!!!!!!!
I suppose. Already so far invested. Have to see how the story turns out.
Yes as usual. Story left you hanging as to all his books. Get the damn story finished or to a better stopping point.
I can't wait until the next book in this series.
Has aspects of super humans like in X-Men.
Brandon Sanderson is a phenomenal writer. What drew me towards this book being so impressed with his other works. Very creative. Knows how to tell a story and capture the characters. I can't think of one flaw with this book. Just never wanted it to end.
would recommend to some. series is good and has new take on zombies and vampires and such.
there should be a rule that the timeline in book must at least be longer than the actual length of the audible narrative. The story is good but it drags on so long. This author could spend chapters lamenting on how a character feels with zombie goo on his clothes. GET ON WITH THE STORY. Seems like the author is trying to drag out a normal one-three book story into 100 books.
I kind of want to listen to book #7 but I figure after 10 hours of audible listening, the main character will not reach the end of their driveway from the house.
